Stochastic switching between multistable oscillation patterns of the Min-system

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
The spatiotemporal oscillation patterns of the proteins MinD and MinE are used by the bacterium E. coli to sense its own geometry. Strikingly, both computer simulations and experiments have recently shown that for the same geometry of the reaction volume,

Summary of high field diffusion MRI and microscopy data demonstrate microstructural aberration in chronic mild stress rat brain

open access: yesData in Brief, 2016
This data article describes a large, high resolution diffusion MRI data set from fixed rat brain acquired at high field strength. The rat brain samples consist of 21 adult rat brain hemispheres from animals exposed to chronic mild stress (anhedonic and ...

Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Optimal Design for One-Dimensional ALOHA Ad Hoc Networks Based on Stochastic Geometry

open access: yesInternational Journal of Distributed Sensor Networks, 2015
The aims of this paper are to analyze the performance of a one-dimensional ALOHA ad hoc network and to investigate the impact of the access probability of the ALOHA protocol on the network performance.

Comparative Analysis of Axlebox Accelerations in Correlation with Track Geometry Irregularities

open access: yesActa Technica Jaurinensis, 2019
Stochastic track irregularities influence additional dynamic forces developed in the vehicle-track interaction that lead to faster deterioration of track.

"Charge without Charge" in the Stochastic Interpretation of Quantum Mechanics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this note I examine some implications of stochastic interpretations of quantum mechanics for the concept of "charge without charge" presented by Wheeler and Misner.

Experimental Characterization of Mycelium‐Based Composites Under Multiple Loading Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines the mechanical response of mycelium‐based composites under compression, shear, and tension using mechanical testing and imaging methods. The comparison between unpressed and hot‐pressed specimens shows that hot pressing is associated with higher compression and shear stiffnesses.

Optimal Feedback Rate for Multi-Antenna Maximum Ratio Transmission in Single-User MIMO Systems with One-Bit Analog-to-Digital Converters in Dense Cellular Networks

open access: yesMathematics
Stochastic geometry has emerged as a powerful tool for modeling cellular networks, especially in dense deployment scenarios where inter-cell interference is significant.

Stochastic Discontinuous Galerkin Methods (SDGM) based on fluctuation-dissipation balance

open access: yesResults in Applied Mathematics, 2019
We introduce a general framework for approximating parabolic Stochastic Partial Differential Equations (SPDEs) based on fluctuation-dissipation balance. Using this approach we formulate Stochastic Discontinuous Galerkin Methods (SDGM).

Logic, Geometry And Probability Theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
We discuss the relationship between logic, geometry and probability theory under the light of a novel approach to quantum probabilities which generalizes the method developed by R. T.
