Block Structure Multivariate Stochastic Volatility Models [PDF]

open access: yes
Most multivariate variance models suffer from a common problem, the “curse of dimensionalityâ€. For this reason, most are fitted under strong parametric restrictions that reduce the interpretation and flexibility of the models. Recently, the literature

Stochastic Models of Rainfall

open access: yesAnnual Review of Statistics and Its Application
Rainfall is the main input to most hydrological systems. To assess flood risk for a catchment area, hydrologists use models that require long series of subdaily, perhaps even subhourly, rainfall data, ideally from locations that cover the area. If historical data are not sufficient for this purpose, an alternative is to simulate synthetic data from a ...

Comparison theorem of one-dimensional stochastic hybrid delay systems

open access: yes, 2008
The comparison theorem of stochastic differential equations has been investigated by many authors. However, little research is available on the comparison theorem of stochastic hybrid systems, which is the topic of this paper.

Tough, Ductile, and Strong Hard‐Soft Cementitious Composite Enabled by Multi‐Material Additive Manufacturing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Drawing inspiration from the layered hard‐soft architecture found in sea sponges, this work establishes a new framework for architected cementitious composites (ACC) through multi‐material additive manufacturing (MMAM) process. The integration of mortar and elastomer phases into layered architectures enables synergistic toughening mechanisms, including

Multi-Period Asset Allocation: An Application of Discrete Stochastic Programming

open access: yes
The issue of modeling farm financial decisions in a dynamic framework is addressed in this paper. Discrete stochastic programming is used to model the farm portfolio over the planning period.

Stochastic Modeling by Inhomogeneous Continuous Time Markov Chains

open access: yes, 2012
Homogeneous continuous time Markov chain (HCTMC), with the assumption of time-independent constant transition rates, is one of the most frequent applied methods for stochastic modeling.

Room‐Temperature Skyrmionic Synapse in 2D Ferromagnet Fe3GaTe2 Operating via Collective Spin Texture Transformation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We demonstrate a neuromorphic synapse in 2D Fe3GaTe2 flakes. The device operates via a current‐driven transformation from a skyrmion‐lattice to a stripe‐domain state, yielding a linear anomalous Hall resistance response with a tunable slope to enable multiply‐accumulate operations. Simulations confirm its viability in artificial neural networks.

Spatial Flows of Information Entropy as Indicators of Climate Variability and Extremes

open access: yesEntropy
The objective of this study is to analyze spatial entropy flows that reveal the directional dynamics of climate change—patterns that remain obscured in traditional statistical analyses.

Self‐Powered Flexible Triboelectric‐Gated Ion‐Gel Transistor for Neuromorphic Tactile Sensing and Human Activity Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A fully flexible ion‐gel‐gated graphene‐channel transistor driven by a triboelectric nanogenerator enables self‐powered tactile sensing and synaptic learning. Mimicking spike‐rate‐dependent plasticity, the device exhibits frequency‐selective potentiation and depression, supporting rate‐coded neuromorphic computation even under flex.
