By using a stochastic frontier framework, the mutual effect of input use on production risk and inefficiency is investigated. Disentangling this mutual effect proves important for empirical reasons, at least when applied to west Tennessee cotton systems ...

A dynamic stochastic frontier production model with time-varying efficiency [PDF]
In this paper technical efficiency is introduced via the intercept that evolve over time as a AR(1) process in a stochastic frontier (SF) framework in a panel data framework. Following are the distinguishing features of the model. First, the model is dynamic in nature.

FRONTIER PRODUCTION FUNCTION: THE STOCHASTIC COEFFICIENTS APPROACH
In the literature, technical efficiency generally is used as a relative concept. The potential output of the firm is used as the norm with which the firm's actual output is compared with to arrive at a measure of technical efficiency. While setting up the norm and modeling the actual production behavior of the firm, it is always assumed that the ...

Comparative Analysis of Stochastic Frontier Partially non-parametric and Stochastic Frontier Parametric Methods Case Study: Measuring Cost Efficiency in Wheat Production in Iran [PDF]
Most research on performance evaluation of agriculturalcrops in Iran analyzes technical efficiency with estimationof stochastic production function. In this paper in spite of pastresearch we survey cost efficiency with panel data.

Labour productivity and rice production in Bangladesh: a stochastic frontier approach [PDF]
In this paper we examine the significance of labour productivity and use of inputs in explaining technical efficiency of rice production in Bangladesh. We find that higher labour productivity can stimulate high efficiency gains, but increased use of inputs (except land) induces negative marginal effect on technical efficiency.
