Formal Approach to Safety‐Driven Dynamic Procedure Modeling
ABSTRACT Ensuring the safety of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) is a growing concern as the number of UAS grows increasingly fast. Regulatory bodies are in the process of tackling this problem by issuing standards and recommendations to be met by UAS designers.

Review of Catenary Icing on High‐Speed Railways: Characteristics, Impact and Countermeasures
ABSTRACT The pantograph–catenary system (PCS) is the only path for electrified railway trains to acquire energy. Catenary icing during winter is a common natural phenomenon, which usually leads to the deterioration of the current quality and severely affects the operational safety of trains.

Liquid jet capabilities for ultrafast chemistry at the SwissFEL Alvra instrument
The technical aspects of the Alvra endstation are outlined and its scientific capabilities are demonstrated with commissioning results obtained during the early years of SwissFEL's operation. The Alvra experimental station at the Swiss X‐ray free‐electron laser, SwissFEL, investigates ultrafast dynamics in chemical and biological systems using X‐ray ...

Minireview of stochastic resonance
Chaos, 1998We present an introductory overview of the subject of stochastic resonance. As researchers’ interest in the phenomenon has spread from physics to biology, new questions both fundamental and practical have emerged. After reviewing some key aspects of the subject, we describe a promising candidate for exploring the possible beneficial effects of random ...

Multiplicative stochastic resonance
Physical Review E, 1994A multiplicative bistable stochastic system perturbed by a periodic forcing term is shown to exhibit stochastic resonance with increasing intensity of the multiplicative noise. Such an effect is related to the phenomenon of stochastic stabilization, which takes place in the unperturbed system.

Aperiodic stochastic resonance
Physical Review E, 1996Stochastic resonance (SR) is a phenomenon wherein the response of a nonlinear system to a weak periodic input signal is optimized by the presence of a particular level of noise. Recently, we presented a method and theory for characterizing SR-type behavior in excitable systems with aperiodic (i.e., broadband) input signals [Phys. Rev. E 52, R3321(1995)]

Energetics of stochastic resonance
Chaos: An Interdisciplinary Journal of Nonlinear Science, 2011In this paper, we discuss the motion of a Brownian particle in a double-well potential driven by a periodic force in terms of energies delivered by the periodic and the noise forces and energy dissipated into the viscous environment. It is shown that, while the power delivered by the periodic force to the Brownian particle is controlled by the strength
