Working stocks and speculative stocks
Economics Letters, 1988Abstract This paper presents theoretical results that are useful for determining the magnitudes of speculative stocks and working stocks held in a commodity market. It is shown that the level of working stocks is a function of the expected discounted price spread. Implications of the results for empirical work are considered.
