Antibiotic‐Mediated Plasmonic‐Mie Resonance for Biosensing Applications on a Novel Silicon Nanopillar Metasurface

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Unique nanopillar metasurfaces are fabricated for the purpose of sensitive detection to refractive index changes in the presence of gold nanoparticles. The addition of these nanoparticles to the surface of the silicon nanopillars is facilitated via a novel antibiotic‐mediated linker system to promote localized surface plasmon effects resulting from Mie

The Structural Evolution of Stock Exchanges

Stock Exchanges as Lighthouses [PDF]

open access: yesMan and the Economy, 2014
Abstract Over the years, it has frequently been argued by economists that lighthouses need to be provided by the state. Ronald Coase demonstrated, in fact, that they could be provided privately. The same is true of financial regulation. Though many economists, using blackboard economics, argue that financial markets need to be regulated ...

Electrical Monitoring of Vibrio vulnificus–Host Cell Membrane Interactions in Simple and Complex Matrices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Supported lipid bilayers coupled with multielectrode array devices offer significant promise for pathogen–host cell membrane interaction studies. This work demonstrates, for the first time, the compatibility of this platform with biological fluids, in this case whole human blood, essential for any future point‐of‐care applications; as well as its ...

A Microfluidic Multiplex Sorter for Strain Development

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 10, Issue 6, March 18, 2025.
A new multiplex method for high‐throughput screening of yeast strains based on glucoamylase production is presented. Droplets containing single mutant yeast cells are incubated for enzyme production. A sorting platform divides mutants by their high‐ and mid‐activity levels.

Single and Bi‐Layer Glass‐Based Phantoms: Robust Materials for a Calibration Standard for Fluorescence Imaging Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Photonics Research, EarlyView.
Fluorescence‐guided surgery is a common technique and characterizing imaging performance is important to ensure clinical reliability. A calibration standard comprising multiple glass phantoms fabricated to mimic the optical properties of fluorescent and non‐fluorescent tissue is presented.
