Scalable Platform Enabling Reservoir Computing With Nanoporous Oxide Memristors for Image Recognition and Time Series Prediction

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
The approach of physical in materia computing incorporates parallel computing within the medium itself. A scalable and energy‐efficient, oxide‐based computational platform is realized in form of a nanoporous network of volatile niobium oxide memristors sandwiched between top and bottom metallic electrodes, and then tested for prediction and ...

Credit Constraints and Stock Price Volatility

open access: yes, 2007
This paper addresses how creditor protection affects the volatility of stock market prices. Credit protection reduces the probability of oscillations between binding and non-binding states of the credit constraint; thereby lowering the rate of return variance.

Food inflation pass‐through from agricultural imports in a small open economy

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper develops a new framework for quantifying cost pass‐through in a small open economy by estimating firm‐level markup responses to agricultural import price shocks. We show theoretically that markup adjustments depend on firms' reliance on imported inputs and demand curvature, generating heterogeneous inflationary effects across firm ...

Commodity Price Volatility under New Market Orientations [PDF]

open access: yes
Recent national and international regulatory reforms (e.g. U.S. FAIR and other GATT compliance reforms) in agricultural markets has led some observers to wonder whether the private sector is able to produce a level of price volatility that is socially ...

Confessions of a Poverty Researcher: My Journey Through the Foothills of Scholarship

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper describes the key events, experiences and ideas that influenced the author's career as a poverty researcher. He describes how his early disillusion with economics was replaced by a spark of interest in social issues and how his migration from the UK to Australia in the mid‐1970s provided the impetus to begin what became a lifetime ...

Natural Aging of Biomaterials in Ambient and Physiological Environments

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, EarlyView.
Biomaterials used in biomedical applications can change their physical properties over time, even under ambient and physiological conditions. This review highlights key studies on the natural aging of materials ranging from soft hydrogels to metals and ceramics, emphasizing how time‐dependent changes influence function and performance.

Liquidity and Market Microstructure Noise: Evidence from the Pekao Data [PDF]

open access: yes
The availability of ultra-high frequency data justifies the use of a continuous-time approach in stock prices modeling. However, this data contain, apart from the information about the price process, a microstructure noise causing a bias in the realized ...

Optimized Selenium‐Doped Nanocomposites for Enhanced Polymer Gel Performance in Permeability Reduction

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Excessive water production in mature oil fields necessitates robust shut‐off treatments, yet conventional polymer gels often fail under high‐temperature and high‐salinity conditions. This study aims to enhance gel thermal stability and mechanical strength by incorporating selenium‐doped Ag/AgO–ZnO nanocomposites synthesized via a novel green ...

What Explains High Commodity Price Volatility? Estimating a Unified Model of Common and Commodity-Specific, High- and Low-Frequency Factors [PDF]

open access: yes
We estimate a model of common and commodity-specific, high- and low-frequency factors, built on the spline-GARCH model of Engle and Rangel (2008) to explain the period of exceptionally high price volatility in commodity markets during 2006-2008.

Green Fuel Combustion Synthesis of CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 Nanoparticles for Photocatalytic and Antibacterial Applications

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silver‐doped cerium oxide nanoparticles (Ag/CeO2 NPs) were synthesized using Ricinus communis seed extract as a bio‐derived fuel in a solution combustion method. The combustion reaction, carried out at 450°C with AgNO3 and (NH4)2[Ce (NO3)6] as metal precursors, produced CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 NPs.
