The art of coarse Stokes: Richardson extrapolation improves the accuracy and efficiency of the method of regularized stokeslets [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2021
The method of regularized stokeslets is widely used in microscale biological fluid dynamics due to its ease of implementation, natural treatment of complex moving geometries, and removal of singular functions to integrate.

Squirmer hydrodynamics near a periodic surface topography [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2023
The behaviour of microscopic swimmers has previously been explored near large-scale confining geometries and in the presence of very small-scale surface roughness.

Remarks on Regularized Stokeslets in Slender Body Theory [PDF]

open access: yesFluids, 2021
We remark on the use of regularized Stokeslets in the slender body theory (SBT) approximation of Stokes flow about a thin fiber of radius ϵ>0. Denoting the regularization parameter by δ, we consider regularized SBT based on the most common regularized ...

Passively parallel regularized stokeslets. [PDF]

open access: yesPhilos Trans A Math Phys Eng Sci, 2020
Stokes flow, discussed by G.G. Stokes in 1851, describes many microscopic biological flow phenomena, including cilia-driven transport and flagellar motility; the need to quantify and understand these flows has motivated decades of mathematical and computational research.

A Framework for Generating Radial and Surface-Oriented Regularized Stokeslets. [PDF]

open access: yesFluids (Basel), 2022
Error in the method of regularized Stokeslets is highly dependent on the choice of the blob or regularization function that is utilized to handle singularities in the flow. In this work, we develop a general framework to choose regularizations at the level of the vector potential via smoothing factors.

On the limitations of some popular numerical models of flagellated microswimmers: importance of long-range forces and flagellum waveform [PDF]

open access: yesRoyal Society Open Science, 2019
For a sperm-cell-like flagellated swimmer in an unbounded domain, several numerical models of different fidelity are considered based on the Stokes flow approximation.

Axisymmetric flow due to a Stokeslet near a finite-sized elastic membrane [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the Physical Society of Japan, 2019
Elastic confinements play an important role in many soft matter systems and affect the transport properties of suspended particles in viscous flow. On the basis of low-Reynolds-number hydrodynamics, we present an analytical theory of the axisymmetric ...

Quasi-stokeslet induced by thermoplasmonic Marangoni effect around a water vapor microbubble. [PDF]

open access: yesSci Rep, 2017
AbstractRapid Marangoni flows around a water vapor microbubble (WVMB) is investigated using the thermoplasmonic effect of a gold nanoisland film (GNF). By focusing a laser onto the GNF, a stable WVMB with a diameter of ~10 μm is generated in degassed water, while an air bubble generated in non-degassed water is larger than 40 μm.

Lid-driven cavity flow using dual reciprocity [PDF]

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2020
