Method of Submerged Stokeslets for Slip Flow About Ensembles of Particles

Journal of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, 2008
A boundary singularity method with submerged Stokeslets is applied to the low Reynolds number flows about a set of spheres. Newtonian fluid is considered with no slip or partial slip boundary conditions at the wall. The validity of the method for Stokes flows about representative sets of spheres is investigated.

Stokes flow for a stokeslet between two parallel flat plates

Journal of Engineering Mathematics, 1976
Velocity and pressure fields for Stokes flow due to a force singularity of arbitrary orientation and arbitrary distance between two parallel plates are found, using the image technique and a Fourier transform. Two alternative expressions for the solution, one in terms of infinite integrals and the other in terms of infinite series, are given.

Image systems for a Stokeslet inside a rigid spherical container

Physics of Fluids, 1994
This Brief Communication derives a more compact form of the fundamental solution to the Stokes equations for a point force (Stokeslet) in a fluid domain bounded by a rigid spherical container. Although equivalent to Oseen’s (1927) solution, the present form is more useful in subsequent applications in boundary integral equation methods.

Stokeslets-meshfree computations and theory for flow in a collapsible microchannel

Theoretical and Computational Fluid Dynamics, 2012
We present both a theoretical model and Stokeslets-meshfree computations to study the induced flow motions and transport in a 2D microchannel with moving multiple prescribed dynamic collapses (contractions) along the upper wall. The channel is assumed to have a length that is much greater than its width, i.e., \({(\delta = W/L \ll1)}\) .

Kernel-independent fast multipole method within the framework of regularized Stokeslets

Journal of Fluids and Structures, 2016
Abstract The method of regularized Stokeslets (MRS) uses a radially symmetric blob function of infinite support to smooth point forces and allows for evaluation of the resulting flow field. This is a common method to study swimmers at zero Reynolds number where the Stokeslet is the fundamental solution corresponding to the kernel of the single layer ...

A stokeslets approach for the numerical solution of Brinkman systems

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2013
In this work we present some properties of unsteady hydrodynamic potentials in order to justify a meshfree numerical method for Brinkman systems with Dirichlet and Neumann boundary conditions. The problems here addressed concerns interior 2D problems and can be easily extended for exterior and 3D problems.

Modeling a semi‐flexible filament in cellular Stokes flow using regularized Stokeslets

International Journal for Numerical Methods in Biomedical Engineering, 2011
SUMMARYMany physical and biological systems involve inextensible fibers immersed in a fluid; examples include cilia, polymer suspensions, and actin filament transport. In such systems, the dynamics of the immersed fibers may play a significant role in the observed macroscale fluid dynamics.
