Abstract A review of the stomach as an organ for capacitance, mixing, and transit, the chapter starts with anatomy and physiology. Important points about esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) and gastrostomy tubes are presented before proceeding to disorders of gastric motility and mucosal inflammation.

This process, however, is, referred to gastric ulcers, too rare to indicate a prophylactic resection of the stomach on account of the danger of the development of cancer.
