The Role of Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation in Ataxia‐Telangiectasia

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Ataxia‐telangiectasia (A‐T) is a DNA repair disorder characterized by neurodegeneration, immunodeficiency, and cancer predisposition. Hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) is an established therapy in related disorders such as Fanconi anemia (FA) and Nijmegen breakage syndrome (NBS), but its role in A‐T is unclear.

Endoscopic Ultrasonography in the Diagnosis of Gastric Subepithelial Lesions [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Endoscopy, 2016
Subepithelial lesions occasionally found in the stomach of patients undergoing endoscopy may be either benign lesions or tumors with malignant potential. They may also appear due to extrinsic compression.

Organoids in pediatric cancer research

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Organoid technology has revolutionized cancer research, yet its application in pediatric oncology remains limited. Recent advances have enabled the development of pediatric tumor organoids, offering new insights into disease biology, treatment response, and interactions with the tumor microenvironment.

Systematic Endoscopic Approach to Early Gastric Cancer in Clinical Practice

open access: yesGut and Liver, 2021
Early gastric cancers (EGCs) are defined as gastric cancers confined to the mucosa or submucosa, regardless of regional lymph node metastasis. The proportion of EGCs has been increasing due to the increase in screening endoscopy for gastric cancers ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Fatal tumor lysis syndrome in a patient with metastatic gastric adenocarcinoma

open access: yesAutopsy and Case Reports, 2021
Tumor lysis syndrome is a well-characterized and potentially deadly complication of spontaneous or treatment-related tumor destruction, and it is most commonly associated with hematologic malignancies.

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...
