Obstructed Traumatic Diaphragmatic Rupture Mimicking a Hydropneumothorax: Experience from a Low-resource Setting

open access: yesNigerian Journal of Medicine
Introduction: Obstructed diaphragmatic rupture, although rare, poses a rare and life-threatening risk and is challenging to diagnose due to its nonspecific symptoms. Timely recognition, early diagnosis, and appropriate management are crucial.

Monolithic Oxidation Enables Ultrathin Vertically Graded Tantalum Oxide for Low‐Voltage, Low‐Variability Memristive Switching

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Monolithic UV‐ozone oxidation of Ta forms an ultrathin Ta2O5/TaOx bilayer enabling resistive switching with a vertical defect gradient. A stoichiometric surface layer over an oxygen‐deficient sublayer promotes localized filament nucleation near the top interface, enabling low‐voltage operation, and reduced cycle‐to‐cycle variability.

Silicone Phase Behavior Resolves the Softness–Surface Functionality Trade‐Off in Emerging Stretchable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ultrasoft silicone elastomers often sacrifice surface functionality for mechanical compliance. In Mold Star, low‐molecular‐weight species form a dispersed phase that weakens the network and passivates the surface. Solvent extraction removes this phase, unexpectedly improving both extensibility and metallization performance, enabling conductive ...

Tannic Acid‐Modified Cellulose Nanofiber Reinforced Polymerizable Eutectogels for High‐Performance Stretchable Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A polymerizable deep eutectic solvent is reinforced with tannic acid‐modified cellulose nanofibers to construct a hierarchical dynamic eutectogel network. Synergistic covalent and reversible interactions impart ultrahigh stretchability, high ionic conductivity, broad temperature tolerance, self‐healing, and strong adhesion, enabling robust wearable ...

Spontaneous rupture of the stomach in an adult

open access: yesJournal of British Surgery, 1972
Abstract A case of spontaneous rupture of the stomach in an adult is described following retching with pyloric stenosis. A table of the more recent of the 47 cases described in the world literature is given with references to all the reported cases.

Noise‐Limited Bit Precision in Ferroelectric Synaptic Transistors for High‐Resolution Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐frequency noise spectroscopy defines the resolvable conductance states of synaptic FeFETs by coupling read‐current fluctuation with usable dynamic range. The resulting noise‐limited bit precision establishes a universal, device‐agnostic reliability metric beyond the memory window, enabling quantitative benchmarking and rational design of high ...

Idiopathic gastric perforation in an asplenic infant

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Paediatric Surgery, 2012
Introduction: The cause of idiopathic gastric perforations in neonates remains unknown. Perforations of the abdominal oesophagus, stomach and duodenum in infants and children are the rarest type of intestinal perforations.

A Case of Segmental Arterial Mediolysis Presenting as Mucosal Gastric Hematoma

open access: yesCase Reports in Gastrointestinal Medicine, 2017
Background. Although segmental arterial mediolysis (SAM) has been increasingly recognized as arteriopathy and there are some case reports about SAM, it is still very rare.
