The epidemiology of the blackleg pathogen, Leptosphaeria maculans, impacts fungicide resistance management strategies

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Understanding how infection timing drives disease is essential for the development of fungicide resistance management strategies. For blackleg disease of canola, all infection timings can contribute to the following generation, therefore all fungicide applications have the ability to select for resistance.

A framework to evaluate and identify development requirements for land‐surface models at km‐scale resolution: Application to a semi‐arid and mountainous region

open access: yesQuarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.
This article provides a first evaluation of land‐surface models at the km‐scale resolutions at which they are used in weather and Earth‐system models. At these resolutions, the lateral transfers of water that organize landscapes play an important role in predicting evaporation correctly. Riparian processes and human water management for irrigation need

Use of stomatal index and leaf clearing in the identification of Argentine mistletoe species belonging to Loranthaceae

open access: yes, 2008

Agrivoltaic Lettuce Production Under Future Climates: A Sustainable Strategy for Optimizing Food and Energy Yields

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Food system resilience is increasingly challenged by climate change and global trade volatility, even in high‐income nations like Canada. Agrivoltaics—co‐locating crops and photovoltaics (PV)–offers a sustainable production strategy to optimize land use and address both food and energy security.

Winter Track Survey of the Amur Tiger (Panthera tigris altaica) in the Southwest Primorsky Province of Russia 俄罗斯滨海边疆区西南部东北虎 (Panthera tigris altaica) 冬季足迹调查

open access: yesWildlife Letters, EarlyView.
In the winter of 2021/2022, a winter track survey revealed 43–46 tigers (without cubs) in 5.4 thousand km2 of suitable habitats in the Southwest Primorsky Province of Russia. In the same period, a network of camera traps registered 54 adult/subadult tigers here.

Nitrogen addition alters adaptive strategies of a dominant plant species in an alpine meadow via shifts in traits and trait coordination

open access: yesFunctional Ecology, EarlyView.
Read the free Plain Language Summary for this article on the Journal blog. Abstract Nitrogen (N) deposition significantly impacts plant functional traits in alpine meadows, yet the adaptive strategies of dominant species remain unclear. Understanding these strategies is crucial for predicting alpine grassland vegetation changes and ecosystem ...
