Stomatal density and stomatal index of fossil Buxus from coprolites of extinct Myotragus balearicus Bate (Artiodactyla, Caprinae) as evidence of increased CO2 concentration during the late Holocene [PDF]
Stomatal density of plants may vary depending on environmental factors, such as CO2 concentration. Under the current atmospheric conditions, it is expected that leaves have different stomatal density than they had hundreds or thousands of years ago, due to the rise in CO2 in the atmosphere.

Improving Irrigation Scheduling and Water use Efficiency in Cotton [PDF]
Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L) is an important crop in the southern United States. The crop is grown in both irrigated and rainfed situations and is seldom free from periods of water shortages at some stage during the season.

History matters : ecometrics and integrative climate change biology [PDF]
Climate change research is increasingly focusing on the dynamics among species, ecosystems and climates. Better data about the historical behaviours of these dynamics are urgently needed.

Feeding enterostomy during MIE was evaluated in 19 054 patients from the Japanese NCD using propensity weighting. Enterostomy was associated with higher reoperation and respiratory complications, but lower delayed gastric emptying and deep vein thrombosis, with no significant difference in overall bowel obstruction.

Classification of red beet and sugar beet for drought tolerance using morpho-physiological and stomatal traits [PDF]
Drought is a global phenomenon that endangers agricultural production by creating water scarcity. Selecting drought-tolerant cultivars, varieties, and species is essential for maintaining the food supply and advancing breeding efforts. The study aimed to

ABSTRACT Aim Stoma creation is often required in Crohn's disease (CD), most commonly because of progressive anorectal disease. As stoma closure strongly influences long‐term quality of life and surgical decision‐making, this study evaluated the indications and long‐term outcomes of stoma creation in patients with CD.

The effect of light quality on the expression of stomatal development genes of maize
Light-induced stomatal development is mediated through a crosstalk between cryptochrome (CRY), phytochrome (phy), and constitutive photomorphogenic 1 (COP1)-signaling systems.

Reaction of Coniferous Forest Vegetation to Particulate Deposition Under Alkaline Pressure [PDF]
The aim of this study was to determine direction, rate and character of the changes in coniferous forest communities caused by anthropogenic stress factors (alkaline emission and imission) changing with time.

Effect of different concentrations of CdSO4 (10(-4) M, 5 x 10(-4) M and 10(-3) M) on leaf area, stomatal frequency, stomatal index and pigment content in 6 days old mungbean seedlings was studied under laboratory conditions. Except at 10(-4) M CdSO4, leaf area decreased with an increase in the concentration of CdSO4.
