Stepwise case selection using Guy's stone score reduces complications during percutaneous nephrolithotomy training

open access: yesIndian Journal of Urology, 2017
Introduction: Traditional percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) training involved subjective award of cases to the trainee. We restructured this according to the Guy's stone score (GSS) such that each trainee stepwise completed 25 cases of each grade ...

Ultrafast visual detection of Streptococcus suis via HtpsC‐targeted LAMP–CRISPR–Cas12a coupled with lateral flow immunochromatography

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A rapid visual test combines DNA amplification, CRISPR–based target verification, and a lateral flow strip to detect Streptococcus suis. The assay gives results in about 45 min, reduces false‐positive interpretation, and does not require fluorescence equipment.

Volumetric Predictors of Stone-Free Outcomes After mini-PCNL

open access: yesThe New Journal of Urology
Objective: To evaluate the predictive value of volumetric stone measurements including manually calculated stone volume and 3D software–derived volume on stone-free outcomes following mini-percutaneous nephrolithotomy (mini-PCNL), and to ...

External validation and comparison of the scoring systems (S.T.O.N.E, GUY, CROES, S-ReSC) for predicting percutaneous nephrolithotomy outcomes for staghorn stones: A single center experience with 160 cases

open access: yesKaohsiung Journal of Medical Sciences, 2017
The aim of this study was validation and comparison of stone scoring systems (S.T.O.N.E, GUY, CROES, S-ReSC) used to predict postoperative stone-free status and complications after percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) for staghorn stones.

Hydrogel platforms for 3D cardiac tissue engineering and fibrotic disease modelling

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hydrogel‐based cardiac tissue models are advancing our understanding of heart health and disease. By incorporating electrical conductivity, aligned structures, and tunable mechanical properties, these platforms better replicate the complex environment of native heart tissue.

High‐Entropy Alloy Interlayers Toward Advanced Joining for High‐Performance Structural Applications: Current Progress and Emerging Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
HEA interlayers offer a versatile route for joining high‐performance structural materials. Their compositional and structural design regulates interfacial reactions, suppresses brittle IMCs, and improves metallurgical bonding. Sandwich interlayers further integrate defect healing with precipitation strengthening, enabling improved strength–ductility ...
