Transcriptome Characterization of Different Tissues of Stone Pine (Pinus pinea L.): De Novo Assembly [PDF]
: Stone pine ( Pinus pinea L.) is an emblematic tree distributed around the whole Mediterranean basin. The species is well known for the economics of its timber, resins and edible seeds, the stone pine nuts commercialized in the food industry.

Observations on 3-dimensional crown growth of Stone pine [PDF]
In this work we wish to demonstrate the possibility of a reconstruction of the 3D growth of the Stone pine (Pinus pinea L) crown. The crowns of two samples were digitized in segments corresponding with individual years, which allowed us to reconstruct ...

Micropropagation of adult Stone Pine (Pinus pinea L.)
This paper describes a micropropagation protocol for in vitro propagation of mature Stone Pine trees. Axillary bud development was achieved by culturing bud explants in media containing various cytokinins. Experiments were conducted to test the effect of asepsis conditions, type and concentration of cytokinin and rooting protocol.

Micrografting of mature stone pine (Pinus pinea L.) trees [PDF]
This paper describes an in vitro micrografting method for selected mature Pinus pinea L. trees. Needle fascicles of five selected clones were micrografted onto hypocotyls of two weeks-old germinated isolated embryos. Fascicle meristems outgrowth was recorded after one month of culture and the performance of the clones assayed was evaluated.

Decline in commercial pine nut and kernel yield in Mediterranean stone pine (Pinus pinea L.) in Spain [PDF]
Cones of the Mediterranean stone pine (Pinus pinea L.) constitute one of the most relevant non-wood forest products collected in the Mediterranean forests, providing high value edible kernels. In the last years it has been observed a severe decline in the kernel-per-cone yield (kg of kernels obtained from a kg of fresh cones) through the whole area of ...

Electing drought-resistant pinus pinea L. (stone pine) using dendroclimatology
AbstractThe purpose of this study is to determine the exceptional dry years of Pinus pinea L. (stone pine) by using dendroclimatology, and Selection drought-resistant trees depending on the differentiation in the width of the annual growth rings of exceptional dry years and adopting them as seed mothers. Method.
