Exceptional nasal-stop inventories

open access: yesCatalan Journal of Linguistics, 2016
This article explores the topic of exceptionality in phonology focusing on nasal-stop inventories. A meticulous survey shows that it is normal for such systems to include at least two anterior units: /m/ and /n/. The finding that the introduction of /ŋ/,

Circulating tumor cells in metastatic breast cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors – a biomarker analysis of the ALICE and ICON trials

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative biomarker analysis, we assessed serial sampling of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) with CellSearch in two randomized trials testing immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in metastatic breast cancer. Our data demonstrate a prognostic potential of CTCs, most apparent 4 weeks into ICI therapy.

Integrative transcriptomic analysis identifies emetine as a promising candidate for overcoming acquired resistance to ALK inhibitors in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 4, Page 1155-1169, April 2025.
We propose an efficient strategy to suppress ALK inhibitor (ALKi) resistance. By analyzing transcriptome data, we identified emetine as a potential inhibitor. We demonstrated that emetine exhibited effectiveness in inhibiting the growth of ALKi‐resistant cells, and further interpreted its impact on the resistant signatures through drug‐induced RNA ...

A study for the effect of the Emphaticness and language and dialect for Voice Onset Time (VOT) in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
The signal sound contains many different features, including Voice Onset Time (VOT), which is a very important feature of stop sounds in many languages. The only application of VOT values is stopping phoneme subsets. This subset of consonant sounds is stop phonemes exist in the Arabic language, and in fact, all languages.

On the Acquisition of English Voiceless Stop VOT by Indonesian-English Bilinguals: Evidence of Input Frequency

open access: yesK@ta: A Biannual Publication on the Study of Language and Literature, 2019
The paper attempts to investigate the acquisition of Voice Onset Time (VOT) of voiceless stop consonants of English /p/, /t/, and /k/ by Indonesian-English bilingual children in its close relation to how second language (L2) input shapes the L2 VOT ...

Targeting rapid TKI‐induced AXL upregulation overcomes adaptive ERK reactivation and exerts antileukemic effects in FLT3/ITD acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, Volume 19, Issue 5, Page 1386-1403, May 2025.
Adaptive ERK reactivation hinders FLT3 tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) treatment in FLT3/ITD acute myeloid leukemia. Here, we report that FLT3 TKI treatment rapidly induces AXL expression and upregulation that is temporally associated with the adaptive ERK reactivation.

Corpus Phonetics Tutorial [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Corpus phonetics has become an increasingly popular method of research in linguistic analysis. With advances in speech technology and computational power, large scale processing of speech data has become a viable technique. This tutorial introduces the speech scientist and engineer to various automatic speech processing tools.

Processing of place information in stop consonants [PDF]

open access: yesPerception & Psychophysics, 1977
One of the basic questior, s that models of speech perception must answer concerns the conditions under which various cues will be extracted from a stimulus and the nature of the mechanisms which mediate this process. Two selective adaptation experiments were carried out to explore this question for the phonetic feature of place of articulation in both

Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories predict survival in trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors applied joint/mixed models that predict mortality of trifluridine/tipiracil‐treated metastatic colorectal cancer patients based on circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) trajectories. Patients at high risk of death could be spared aggressive therapy with the prospect of a higher quality of life in their remaining lifetime, whereas patients with a ...
