Aftasten/Tantear: A sensorial, coalitional wayfinding among Muslim runners
Abstract Muslim recreational runners in Muslim‐minority settings that take up running as their preferred form of leisure indicate that they feel they have to navigate a sense of exclusion when running outdoors. This article explores the process of exploration and sensing in public, represented by the Dutch verb aftasten, to investigate the way Muslim ...

Student Understanding of Sight Distance in Geometric Design
Although many students demonstrate considerable aptitude in manipulating equations and variables within academic environments, research consistently shows that they lack conceptual understanding; the deficit accounts for their difficulties in choosing ...

An Initial Investigation of the Effects of a Fully Automated Vehicle Fleet on Geometric Design
This paper investigates the potential changes in the geometric design elements in response to a fully autonomous vehicle fleet. When autonomous vehicles completely replace conventional vehicles, the human driver will no longer be a concern.

ABSTRACT In response to the increasing volume of parcels, last‐mile delivery innovations are exploring the integration of multiple delivery modes. The most prominent examples are delivery vans that, next to being the base for the delivery tasks of their human drivers, also function as mobile launching platforms for drones or autonomous delivery robots.

Three-dimensional stopping sight distance control on passing lanes of divided highways [PDF]
Stopping Sight Distance control of passing lanes of divided highways represents currently a discussion point among researchers. A 3-D approach to address the issue is accepted as the overall solution to the problem by both researchers and contemporary design policies.

Looking for Trouble: Pre‐Intervention Monitoring in Human and AI Driver Training
We compare two types of situations involving monitoring of car driving: a driving instructor overseeing a trainee driver and a safety driver overseeing the performance of autonomous vehicle (AV) software. Our focus is on instances of monitoring that precede (1) interventions that are aborted before impacting the driving and (2) actual interventions on ...

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.
