Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

A Gemoetrical Approach to Computing Expected Cycle Times for Class-Based Storage Layouts in AS/RS

open access: yes
An exact, geometry-based analytical model is presented that can be used to compute the expected cycle time for a storage/retrieval (S/R) machine, executing single-commands, dual-commands, or both, in a rack structure that has been laid out in pre ...

Economic order quantity and storage assignment policies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The basic Harris’s lot size model dates back to 1913 (Harris, 1913), hence one century from its publication has been recently celebrated. Starting from the seminal work of Harris, a wide plethora of contributors has faced with the lot-sizing problem for ...

Correlated Storage Assignment and Iso-Time Mapping Adopting Tri-Later Stackers. A Case Study from Tile Industry

open access: yes, 2012
The process of picking products from storage locations to fill customer orders is a very critical and labour-intensive logistic activity, especially in the presence of many orders made of a few orderliness.

SL-LDA: LDA-Based Storage Location Assignment for Automated Warehouses Under MAPD Constraints

open access: yesSystems
Storage location assignment in automated warehouses strongly affects order-processing efficiency. Existing co-occurrence-based approaches often rely on pointwise mutual information (PMI) statistics or direct frequency co-occurrence.

Optimal Storage Rack Design for a 3D Compact AS/RS with Full Turnover-Based Storage

open access: yes
Compact, multi-deep (3D) automated storage and retrieval systems (AS/RS) are becoming increasingly popular for storing products with relatively low turnover on a compact area. An automated storage/retrieval crane takes care of movements in the horizontal

A Simulation Study of Warehouse Storage Assignment

open access: yes, 2004
Warehouse operations have become an important part of the retail industry today. For many companies in the retail industry, the profit margin can be as little as one cent for every dollar sold.

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

Optimal Storage Rack Design for a 3-dimensional Compact AS/RS

open access: yes
In this paper, we consider a newly-designed compact three-dimensional automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS). The system consists of an automated crane taking care of movements in the horizontal and vertical direction.
