The storage of acetate under anoxic conditions

Water Research, 2001
Till now the role of storage in activated sludge processes under transient conditions has been deeply investigated under anaerobic (EBPR processes) or aerobic (bulking control) environments. Little attention has been given to the role of storage in processes including anoxic environments. Hence, the aim of the present work was to investigate the anoxic

Conditions for Handling and Optimal Storage of Mycolactone

2021
The successful isolation of mycolactone in a laboratory or from a clinical sample relies on proper handling and storage of the toxin. Mycolactone is a light-sensitive and an amphiphilic toxin produced by Mycobacterium ulcerans. The biochemistry of the toxin makes it unstable in aqueous matrices such as blood, which causes it to self-aggregate or ...

Effect of storage conditions on function of granulocytes

Cryobiology, 1980
Abstract The effect of collection technique, anticoagulant, pH, glucose, and temperature on in vitro granulocyte function were studied after 24 hr of storage in the liquid state. Collection by CL did not adversely affect granulocyte function, however, cells collected by FL had accelerated loss of bactericidal activity and chemotactic response ...

Subcortical storage of pavlovian conditioning in the rabbit

Physiology & Behavior, 1977
Abstract Bilateral surgical neodecortication did not prevent perfect retention of a Pavlovian nictitating membrane response in rabbits if the original learning took place in the normal state but did abolish the acquired responses if the animals were hemidecorticate at the time of original learning.

Condition monitoring for hazardous material storage

Proceedings of the 2014 IEEE Emerging Technology and Factory Automation (ETFA), 2014
In this contribution we show enhancements of the safety of hazardous material stores by the usage of a condition monitoring system. Hazardous material stores function as a store for dangerous chemicals. We use fire simulations to simulate a fire and use the results of this simulation in our condition monitoring system in order to show the attainable ...

On the secure conditions for distributed storage systems

2013 International Symposium on Network Coding (NetCod), 2013
The problem of secure distributed storage systems (DSS) with regenerating codes is concerned in this paper. We consider an eavesdropper model where an eavesdropper wiretaps a subset of storage nodes, and either their repairing data or stored data can be wiretapped.

Defining the optimal storage conditions for the long-term storage of platelets

Transfusion Medicine Reviews, 2003
Aging of platelets after in vitro storage at 22 degrees C is significantly slower than aging of platelets in vivo at 37 degrees C, a situation that may make long-term storage of platelets possible. Three approaches appear to be of specific importance: (1) to reduce the activation of platelets during collection of blood and the preparation and storage ...

Corneal Endothelium Under Various Storage Conditions

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 1977
Three rabbit corneas each were stored in McCarey-Kaufman (M-K) medium, rabbit serum, and in a moist chamber at 4 degrees C refrigeration for various lengths of observation. The endothelial cells appeared normal under all conditions for the first 24 hours as compared with control corneas processed concurrently with each experimental group.

On storage conditions for photographic film

History of Photography, 1987
Conservators generally agree that it helps to know the composition of an object when determining controlled environmental conditions for its storage, or if a restoration treatment is required.
