Wavelength-dispersive spectroscopy in the hard x-ray regime of a heavy highly-charged ion: the 1s Lamb shift in hydrogen-like gold

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2018
Accurate spectroscopy of highly-charged high- Z ions in a storage ring is demonstrated to be feasible by the use of specially adapted crystal optics. The method has been applied for the measurement of the 1 s Lamb shift in hydrogen-like gold (Au ^+78 ...

Calculations of spin response functions in rings with Siberian Snakes and spin rotators

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2009
The so-called spin response formalism, which is linear response theory applied to spin dynamics in storage rings, can calculate the resonance strengths for spin flippers in storage rings of arbitrary structure, including rings with Siberian Snakes and ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Pulsed sextupole injection for Sweden’s new light source MAX IV

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2012
The MAX IV facility presently under construction will include two storage rings for the production of synchrotron radiation. Both rings will be operated at a constant 500 mA of stored current with top-up shots supplied by the MAX IV linac acting as a ...

Features of relativistic electron radiation in storage rings [PDF]

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2019
The formulation of the problem is due to the fact that the spectral properties of radiation in alternating magnetic fields, as compared with homogeneous fields, differ little, but the angular characteristics depend significantly on betatron oscillations.

Valosin‐containing protein counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its ATPase activity in vitro

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

Intrabeam scattering in electron storage rings

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2001
A calculation method of emittance growth of an electron beam due to intrabeam scattering is described. The 3 degrees of freedom are equally treated in the beam rest frame, and the couplings between them are included in a natural way.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Crystalline beams in dispersion-free storage rings

open access: yesPhysical Review Special Topics. Accelerators and Beams, 2006
Generating a multidimensional crystalline beam in a storage ring has been known to be difficult without a special cooling force, i.e., tapered cooling, because of the momentum dispersion induced by bending magnets.
