Error correction in ensemble registers for quantum repeaters and quantum computers
We propose to use a collective excitation blockade mechanism to identify errors that occur due to disturbances of single atoms in ensemble quantum registers where qubits are stored in the collective population of different internal atomic states.

On the block wavelet transform applied to the boundary element method [PDF]
This paper follows an earlier work by Bucher et al. [1] on the application of wavelet transforms to the boundary element method, which shows how to reuse models stored in compressed form to solve new models with the same geometry but arbitrary load cases

Splenic lipids in Gaucher's disease
Column chromatography (on cellulose, silicic acid, and Florisil) and thin-layer chromatography were employed for the separation and purification of lipid fractions from normal and Gaucher spleens.

Self-learning Kinetic Monte-Carlo method: application to Cu(111)
We present a novel way of performing kinetic Monte Carlo simulations which does not require an {\it a priori} list of diffusion processes and their associated energetics and reaction rates.

Applications of atomic ensembles in distributed quantum computing [PDF]
Thesis chapter. The fragility of quantum information is a fundamental constraint faced by anyone trying to build a quantum computer. A truly useful and powerful quantum computer has to be a robust and scalable machine.

Atovaquone is an antimalarial requiring potentiation for sufficient efficacy. We pursued strategies to enhance its activity, showing that 4‐nitrobenzoate inhibits 4‐hydroxybenzoate polyprenyltransferase, decreasing ubiquinone biosynthesis. Since atovaquone competes with ubiquinol in mitochondria, 4‐nitrobenzoate facilitates its action, potentiating ...

A Sequential Procedure for Individual Identity Verification Using ECG
The electrocardiogram (ECG) is an emerging novel biometric for human identification. One challenge for the practical use of ECG as a biometric is minimizing the time needed to acquire user data.

Numerical and Experimental Location Detection of Through Defect in Homogenized Plates using Tomography of Surface Wave Method [PDF]
Using surface guided wave is one of the most reliable methods of structural health monitoring. Mostly the bulk wave is preferred for identification of internal defects, which is inefficient in localizing the surface cracks. In this paper the procedure of
