Splenic lipids in Gaucher's disease

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1968
Column chromatography (on cellulose, silicic acid, and Florisil) and thin-layer chromatography were employed for the separation and purification of lipid fractions from normal and Gaucher spleens.

Spin-based all-optical quantum computation with quantum dots: understanding and suppressing decoherence

open access: yes, 2003
We present an all-optical implementation of quantum computation using semiconductor quantum dots. Quantum memory is represented by the spin of an excess electron stored in each dot.

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

A Sequential Procedure for Individual Identity Verification Using ECG

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2009
The electrocardiogram (ECG) is an emerging novel biometric for human identification. One challenge for the practical use of ECG as a biometric is minimizing the time needed to acquire user data.

Numerical and Experimental Location Detection of Through Defect in Homogenized Plates using Tomography of Surface Wave Method [PDF]

open access: yesفصلنامه علوم و فناوری فضایی, 2019
Using surface guided wave is one of the most reliable methods of structural health monitoring. Mostly the bulk wave is preferred for identification of internal defects, which is inefficient in localizing the surface cracks. In this paper the procedure of

A programme to determine the exact interior of any connected digital picture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Region filling is one of the most important and fundamental operations in computer graphics and image processing. Many filling algorithms and their implementations are based on the Euclidean geometry, which are then translated into computational models ...

Mechanisms of parasite‐mediated disruption of brain vessels

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Parasites can affect the blood vessels of the brain, often causing serious neurological problems. This review explains how different parasites interact with and disrupt these vessels, what this means for brain health, and why these processes matter. Understanding these mechanisms may help us develop better ways to prevent or treat brain infections in ...

DYCOCO: Dynamic Configuration-Based Test Compaction

open access: yesIEEE Access
Systems with high reliability demands require large test sets that target several or advanced fault models. To reduce the storage requirements of a large test set, it was suggested earlier that a stored test may be used for applying several different ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.
