Tumor microenvironment drives cancer formation and progression. We analyzed the role of human cancer‐associated adipocytes from patients with renal cell carcinoma (RCC) stratified as lean, overweight, or obese. RNA‐seq demonstrated that, among the most altered genes involved in the tumor–stroma crosstalk, are ADAM12 and CYP1B1, which were proven to be ...

Recoverable Energy of Dissipative Electromagnetic Systems [PDF]
Ambiguities in the definition of stored energy within distributed or radiating electromagnetic systems motivate the discussion of the well-defined concept of recoverable energy. This concept is commonly overlooked by the community and the purpose of this communication is to recall its existence and to discuss its relationship to fractional bandwidth ...

Screening of qubit from zero-temperature reservoir [PDF]
We suggest an application of dynamical Zeno effect to isolate a qubit in the quantum memory unit against decoherence caused by coupling with the reservoir having zero temperature. The method is based on using an auxiliary casing system that mediate the qubit-reservoir interaction and is simultaneously frequently erased to ground state.

Large multidimensional digital images of cancer tissue are becoming prolific, but many challenges exist to automatically extract relevant information from them using computational tools. We describe publicly available resources that have been developed jointly by expert and non‐expert computational biologists working together during a virtual hackathon

Analysis of ESR1 mutations in plasma cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) is highly important for the selection of treatment in patients with breast cancer. Using multiplex‐ddPCR and identical blood draws, we investigated whether circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and cfDNA provide similar or complementary information for ESR1 mutations.

Targeted metabolomics reveals novel diagnostic biomarkers for colorectal cancer
This study employed targeted metabolomic profiling to identify 302 distinct metabolites present in platelet‐rich plasma (PRP), revealing aberrant metabolic profiles amongst individuals diagnosed with colorectal cancer (CRC). Compared to carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) and cancer antigen 19‐9 (CA199), our metabolite panel showed improved sensitivity ...

Monte Carlo simulation studies on Python using the sstudy package with SQL databases as storage [PDF]
Performance assessment is a key issue in the process of proposing new machine learning/statistical estimators. A possible method to complete such task is by using simulation studies, which can be defined as the procedure of estimating and comparing properties (such as predictive power) of estimators (and other statistics) by averaging over many ...
