Development of sensitive polyclonal antibodies against dominant stored wheat grain fungus for its immunological detection: Presentation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Fungal infestation causes deterioration of stored food grains. Most fungal species produce secondary metabolites like aflatoxins which are highly toxic to animals and humans.

GelMA‐based 3D spheroids recapitulate transcriptomic and functional hallmarks of myeloid sarcoma

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
GelMA 5% hydrogels support the formation of myeloid leukemia spheroids that recapitulate MS‐specific features, including G1 arrest, apoptosis, and ECM‐driven transcriptomic reprogramming. The 3D model mimicked soft‐tissue‐like stiffness and oxygen conditions, and transcriptomic convergence with primary MS samples confirmed its utility as a preclinical ...

The effect of ultraviolet C radiation on stored-product pests [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The potential of using ultraviolet C (UVC) radiation as an alternative treatment and hygiene measure in storage premises was investigated in the laboratory.

BCG vaccination potentiates oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal myeloid‐derived suppressor cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
BCG vaccination enhances oxidative phosphorylation in neonatal MDSCs, impairing their immunosuppressive function. It upregulates electron transport chain genes and mitochondrial activity, increasing ATP and oxygen consumption. Pharmacological OXPHOS inhibition partially restores suppressive capacity, confirming causality.

Type I interferons modulate autophagy to shape gemcitabine response in pancreatic cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Type I interferons differentially modulate autophagy and the response of pancreatic cancer cells to gemcitabine. IFNα2b stimulates autophagic flux and protects cells from gemcitabine‐induced cell death, contributing to chemoresistance. In contrast, IFNβ1a inhibits autophagosome formation and enhances gemcitabine‐induced cell death, resulting in ...

Two-year field data on neonicotinoid concentrations in guttation drops of seed treated maize (Zea mays)

open access: yesData in Brief, 2018
We present neonicotinoid concentrations in guttation drops of commonly used maize (Zea mays) cultivars, germinated from seeds coated with active substances (a.s.): i) imidacloprid (IMD), ii) clothianidin (CTN) and iii) thiamethoxam (THM) over two growing

Protecting stored maize grain against the Sitophilus zeamais with rice husk ash: Poster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Maize weevil (Sitophilus zeamais) is an important insect that affect the maize grain on the field and in storage. There are several ways of controlling this insect but the most commonly used is the use of chemicals.

TRPML1 agonist ML‐SA5 attenuates pulmonary fibroblast activation by suppressing mTOR and restoring autophagic flux

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TGF‐β1 stimulation downregulates lysosomal channel TRPML1 in pulmonary fibroblasts. The TRPML1 agonist ML‐SA5 suppressed fibroblast‐to‐myofibroblast activation and collagen production. Mechanistically, ML‐SA5 inhibited mTOR phosphorylation, restored autophagic flux, and its effects were enhanced by rapamycin (mTOR inhibitor) and reversed by MHY1485 ...
