Iñigo Fernández es maestro en historia por la Universidad Iberoamericana de México y doctor en biblioteconomía y documentación por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Es miembro de la Asociación Méxicana de Investigadores de la Comunicación y de la Red de Historiadores de la Prensa. Su tesis doctoral se intituló El debate fe razón en la prensa católica y liberal de la capital mexicana (1833-1857) y su línea de investigación se centra en la historia del periodismo mexicano del siglo XIX, si bien ha desarrollado algunos estudios en torno a los estereotipos del mexicano. Su publicación más reciente es ¿Cómo se ha escrito la historia?: Una alternativa para la enseñanza de la historiografía a preuniversitarios (Madrid, EAE, 2011) y actualmente encabeza un seminario en torno al análisis de las historias del periodismo mexicano.
