Impact of Residential Rainwater Harvesting on Stormwater Runoff

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2022
Population increase, climate change and soil impermeability are factors causing floods in large urban centres. Such places also always have water shortage problems. This research aims to evaluate the influence of rainwater harvesting in residential buildings on stormwater in a basin located in southern Brazil (Rio Cachoeira Basin).

Characteristics of Highway Stormwater Runoff

Water Environment Research, 2006
Highway stormwater runoff was monitored at three highway sites in Los Angeles, California, during the 2000 to 2003 wet seasons. Event mean concentrations (EMCs), partial event mean concentrations (PEMCs), and mass first flush (MFF) factors were calculated for more than 20 water quality parameters for samples from 20 storm events from each site.

Modeling of highway stormwater runoff

Science of The Total Environment, 2005
Highways are stormwater intensive landuses since they are impervious and have high pollutant mass emissions from vehicular activity. Vehicle emissions include different pollutants such as heavy metals, oil and grease, particulates from sources such as fuels, brake pad wear and tire wear, and litter.

Mercury mobilization in urban stormwater runoff

Science of The Total Environment, 2008
Urban stormwater runoff has been identified as a leading cause of waterway impairment for many pollutants, but there has been a lack of research that directly measures Hg in urban stormwater runoff. The objectives of this research were: to use high frequency sampling to characterize the Hg export dynamics from an urban micro-catchment (i.e.

The Importance of Particle Characterization in Stormwater Runoff

Water Environment Research, 2013
ABSTRACT: Treatment units for stormwater management are being routinely required for new construction and upgrading of older facilities. This paper shows how particle size distribution affects the removal of sedimentation units and how erroneous results are often obtained if one uses simple overall removal efficiency or if the particle size ...
