Speed and Temperature Effects in the Energy Absorption of Axially Crushed Composite Tubes
Tubes of glass reinforced thermosetting resins have been tested in axial compression between steel platens with one end chamfered to prevent critically high loads causing catastrophic centre failure.

On the Strain-Energy Function for Isotropic Bodies [PDF]
The strain-energy function φ is assumed to be made up of a sum of homogeneous polynomials of the first, second, third, etc. degrees in the components of the strain tensor eαβ. The expansion is carried only so far as to include the third degree group of terms and then this expression for φ is studied from the point of view of the isotropy of space ...

Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Strain-Inducing Positional Alkene Isomerization
Small, strained ring systems are important pharmacophores in medicinal chemistry and versatile intermediates in organic synthesis. However, the kinetic and thermodynamic instability of many strained organic molecules renders them challenging to prepare ...

The corrosion performance of AlSi7Mg and AlSi10Mg alloys produced through selective laser melting (SLM) was examined under compressive stress in a chloride environment. Electrochemical analyses, including open‐circuit potential (OCP), potentiodynamic polarization (CPP), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), were complemented by scanning ...

A Workflow to Accelerate Microstructure‐Sensitive Fatigue Life Predictions
This study introduces a workflow to accelerate predictions of microstructure‐sensitive fatigue life. Results from frameworks with varying levels of simplification are benchmarked against published reference results. The analysis reveals a trade‐off between accuracy and model complexity, offering researchers a practical guide for selecting the optimal ...
