Study on Mechanical and Acoustic Emission Characteristics of Coal Rock Under Cyclic Loading

open access: yesMeikuang Anquan, 2020
In order to study the mechanical characteristics of coal deformation and failure and the evolution of acoustic emission b value of coal in parallel bedding direction, the coal sample in Bijie Mining Area of Guizhou Province is taken as the research ...

Morphology-Embedded Synergistic Optimization of Thermal and Mechanical Performance in Free-Form Single-Layer Grid Structures

open access: yesTechnologies
Free-form grid structures offer both aesthetic appeal and structural efficiency in long-span roof design and application, yet the potential of morphological design to optimize thermal performance has been long overlooked.

A continuous/discontinuous Galerkin formulation for a strain gradient-dependent damage model

open access: yes, 2004
The numerical solution of strain gradient-dependent continuum problems has been hindered by continuity demands on the basis functions. The presence of terms in constitutive models that involve gradients of the strain field means that the $C^0$ continuity

Ductile crack propagation with the strain-energy density criterion

open access: yes, 1985
The strain energy density criterion is used to characterize subcritical crack growth in a thin aluminum alloy sheet undergoing general yielding. A finite element analysis which incorporates both material and geometrical nonlinear behaviors of the cracked

Effects of loading rate and temperature on strength and deformability of Maha Sarakham salt [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2018
Uniaxial and triaxial compression tests are performed to assess the effects of temperature and loading rate on strength and deformability of Maha Sarakham salt. Specimens are compressed to failure under constant confining pressures between 0 and 12 MPa

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A flexible quasi-solid-state thermoelectrochemical cell with high stretchability as an energy-autonomous strain sensor

open access: yes, 2021
The design of effective energy systems is crucial for the development of flexible and wearable electronics. Regarding the direct conversion of heat into electricity, thermoelectrochemical cells (TECs) are particularly suitable for low-grade heat ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Measuring strain using microwave energy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The measurement of force (or weight) is required in a great diversity of industries and applications. The wide range of force levels, force characteristics and required data has driven the development of many different technologies to meet these needs ...
