Deflection Analysis of Steel Truss Web–Concrete Composite Beams Based on Zigzag Beam Theory

open access: yesBuildings
To address the inherent inaccuracies of the classical beam theory (which overestimates the flexural stiffness) and the “quasi-plane section method” (which neglects the shear deformation) in the deflection analysis of steel truss web–concrete composite ...

Simulation‐Based Analysis of Insert Pull‐Out in Nickel‐Polyurethane Hybrid Foams Using CT‐Derived Geometries

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
CT‐based finite element simulations combined with in situ X‐ray computed tomography are used to analyze insert pull‐out in nickel‐coated polymer foams. Despite variations in material parameters, deformation consistently concentrates within a narrow annular region around the insert.

Research on the elastoplastic localized damage constitutive model of raw coal

open access: yes工程科学学报
The growing need for energy and resources is driving the search and extraction of mineral resources from deeper earth layers, resulting in significant nonlinear mechanical responses in rock masses under high ground stress. The heterogeneous nature of raw

Influence of TiC and TiN Ceramic Reinforcements on the Microstructure, Thermal Expansion Behavior, and Tensile Properties of Invar 36 Manufactured by Laser Powder Bed Fusion

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study examines Invar composites reinforced with titanium carbide (TiC) and titanium nitride (TiN) using laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). It presents the influence of reinforcements on microstructure, tensile properties, and thermal expansion. Results show that TiC effectively strengthens Invar while maintaining low thermal expansion, whereas TiN ...

Ductile crack propagation with the strain-energy density criterion

open access: yes, 1985
The strain energy density criterion is used to characterize subcritical crack growth in a thin aluminum alloy sheet undergoing general yielding. A finite element analysis which incorporates both material and geometrical nonlinear behaviors of the cracked

Rapidly Solidified High‐Strength Invar 36 Prepared by Planar‐Flow Melt Spinning

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The Invar 36 alloy was rapidly solidified using the planar‐flow melt‐spinning technique. Ribbon samples with thicknesses ranging from 20 to 160 mm were produced. As the grain size of the ribbon decreased to sub‐micron levels, the hardness increased by more than 2 times.

Zero energy homes: Combining energy efficiency and solar energy technologies

open access: yes, 2000
In a typical Florida house, air-conditioning accounts for about 35% of all the electricity the home uses. As the largest single source of energy consumption in Florida, a home's air-conditioning load represents the biggest energy challenge facing Florida

Dynamic Response of Methane Explosion and Roadway Surrounding Rock in Restricted Space: A Simulation Analysis of Fluid-Solid Coupling

open access: yesApplied Sciences
A methane-air premixed gas explosion is one of the most destructive disasters in the process of coal mining, and the dynamic coupling between the shock wave triggered by the explosion and the surrounding rock of the roadway can lead to the ...
