Silica-Based and Borate-Based, Titania-Containing Bioactive Coatings Characterization: Critical Strain Energy Release Rate, Residual Stresses, Hardness, and Thermal Expansion. [PDF]
Silica-based and borate-based glass series, with increasing amounts of TiO2 incorporated, are characterized in terms of their mechanical properties relevant to their use as metallic coating materials. It is observed that borate-based glasses exhibit CTE (

A New Bursting Liability Evaluation Index for Coal –The Effective Elastic Strain Energy Release Rate
Because both faults and cleats exist in coal, sharp stress drops occur during loading when coal is deformed. These drops occur during the pre-peak stage and are accompanied by sudden energy releases.

On Damage Strain Energy Release Rate Y [PDF]
In the application of the theory of damage mechanics to solve a wide range of practical engineering problems, a generalized formulation of damage strain energy release rate Y is required. This is because the damage strain energy release rate Y, which is the thermodynamic conjugate force of damage variable D, is used to derive damage evolution equation.

The crack kinking out of an interface [PDF]
Kinking of a plane strain crack out of an interface between the two dissimilar isotropic elastic materials is analyzed. Analysis is focused on the initiation of kinking and thus the segment of the crack leaving the interface is imagined to be short ...

A relation between crack surface displacements and the strain energy release rate [PDF]
The relationship between the strain energy release rate, G, and the displacements of the surfaces of an extending crack in an elastic, tensile member is examined. It is shown that G can be expressed in terms of the volume of the deformed crack provided that any stresses applied to crack surfaces are uniform.

Fracture toughness and critical strain energy release rate of dental amalgam [PDF]
Fracture toughness, critical strain energy release rate and critical stress intensity factor were determined for lathe-cut, spherical, admixed, and two atomized high-copper dental amalgams. At a loading rate of 0.005cm min−1 for 24-hour samples, the spherical amalgam had the highest resistance to unstable crack propagation.

Effects of Periodic Loading on Longitudinal Fracture in Viscoelastic Functionally Graded Beam Structures [PDF]
This paper analyzes the effects of periodic external loading on the longitudinal fracture of a beam structure made of linear viscoelastic material. A longitudinal crack splits the cracked part of the beam into left-hand and right-hand crack arms.

Numerical verification of energy release rate and J-Integral in large strain formulation
The fracture criterion is a critical topic in fracture mechanics. However, the equality of J-Integral (J) and energy release rate (G) has not been numerically verified under large strain theory.
