Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Hygrothermal bending analysis of sandwich nanoplates with FG porous core and piezomagnetic faces via nonlocal strain gradient theory

open access: yesNanotechnology Reviews, 2023
The bending of sandwich nanoplates made of functionally graded (FG) porous core and electromagnetic layers is explored for the first time through a nonlocal strain gradient theory and a four-unknown shear deformation theory.

An elastoplastic framework for granular materials becoming cohesive through mechanical densification. Part II - the formulation of elastoplastic coupling at large strain

open access: yes, 2010
The two key phenomena occurring in the process of ceramic powder compaction are the progressive gain in cohesion and the increase of elastic stiffness, both related to the development of plastic deformation.

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Strain-induced energy band gap opening in two-dimensional bilayered silicon film

open access: yes, 2015
This work presents a theoretical study of the structural and electronic properties of bilayered silicon films under in-plane biaxial strain/stress using density functional theory.

Additive Gaussian Process Regression for Predictive Design of High‐Performance, Printable Silicones

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A chemistry‐aware design framework for tuning printable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for vat photopolymerization (VPP) is developed using additive Gaussian process (GP) modeling. Polymer network mechanics informs variable groupings, feasible formulation constraints, and interaction variables.

Static and Dynamic Analysis of Strain Gradient Planar Trusses

open access: yesBuildings
This paper examines the static and dynamic responses of strain gradient planar trusses. Classical elasticity (CE) theory lacks a material microstructural length parameter in its governing equations, making it insufficient to capture size-dependent ...

Constitutive Model of Thin Metal Sheet in Bulging Test Considering Strain Gradient Hardening

open access: yesMedžiagotyra, 2020
The study of the size effect was one of the most important subjects in the field of micro-forming. To investigate the stress of the thin sheet in the bulging test with the second order size effect, a constitutive equation considering the strain gradient ...
