Dynamic Micromechanical Characterization of 3D Printed Bone In Vitro Models Manufactured via Vat Photopolymerization

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents a novel approach to designing and fabricating high‐porosity 3D‐printed scaffolds using a customized resin. Scaffold geometry, cellular interactions, and mechanical properties are analyzed to demonstrate these engineered bone models.

Super-resolved shear shock focusing in the human head [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Shear shocks, which exist in a completely different regime from compressional shocks, were recently observed in the brain. These low phase speed ($\approx$ 2 m/s) high Mach number ($\approx$ 1) waves could be the primary mechanism behind diffuse axonal injury due to a very high local acceleration at the shock front.

3D In Vitro Glioma‐Neuron‐Astrocyte Biomimetic Composites Recapitulate Key Molecular Mechanisms Linked to Glioblastoma Multiforme Pathophysiology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Glioblastoma multiforme is the most devastating and incurable brain tumor. To better study this disease, a 3D model is developed using a hyaluronic acid‐based hydrogel combined with a multicellular approach. This model recapitulates in vivo brain stiffness, cell‐extracellular matrix and cell‐cell interactions and the tumor's hijacking function with the

A Deterministic Method to Calculate the AIS Trauma Score from a Finite Element Organ Trauma Model (OTM) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Traumatic injuries are measured using the Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS), which is a risk to life scale. New human computer models use stresses and strains to evaluate whether serious or fatal injuries are reached, unfortunately these tensors bear no direct relation to AIS.

Ultra‐Effective Light‐Activated Antibacterial Activity via Carboxyl Functionalized Graphene Quantum Dots and Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Carboxyl‐functionalized graphene quantum dots (cGQDs) exhibit high singlet oxygen quantum yield due to strong spin–orbit coupling. cGQDs achieve minimum bactericidal concentration of only 0.4 µg mL−1 against S. aureus under low‐intensity illumination.

Multifunctional Hydroxyapatite Coated with Gallium Liquid Metal‐Based Silver Nanoparticles for Infection Prevention and Bone Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A multifunctional hydroxyapatite (HAp) coating integrated with silver‐gallium liquid metal nanoparticles (HAp‐Ag‐GaNPs) exhibits dual antibacterial and osteogenic properties. It effectively inhibits Gram‐positive and Gram‐negative bacteria, including resistant strains, while enhancing bone regeneration.

Master of Science [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
thesisTraumatic brain injury is a devastating medical problem worldwide. Contusion, which involves direct damage of both brain tissue and surrounding blood vessels, has been called the hallmark of head injury.

Biodegradable, Humidity‐Insensitive Mask‐Integrated E‐Nose for Sustainable and Non‐Invasive Continuous Breath Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a paper‐based biodegradable, humidity‐insensitive e‐nose for real‐time breath analysis, addressing challenges in existing technologies such as humidity interference, high costs, and environmental impact. Featuring hydrophobic polymer coatings, these sensors reliably detect VOCs even in high‐moisture environments.

Relationships among hamstring muscle optimal length and hamstring flexibility and strength

open access: yesJournal of Sport and Health Science, 2017
Background: Hamstring muscle strain injury (hamstring injury) due to excessive muscle strain is one of the most common injuries in sports. The relationships among hamstring muscle optimal lengths and hamstring flexibility and strength were unknown, which

Continuum mechanical analysis of space and time dependent deformation pattern of brain with blunt injury [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Deformation of human brain due to acceleration impact has been widely accepted as the direct connection to the Trauma Brain Injury (TBI). However, the limitation of obtaining deformation data of TBI is a major obstacle to understanding TBI mechanism ...
