Low‐cycle fatigue damage in Mn–Mo–Ni reactor pressure vessel steel is examined using a combined electron backscatter diffraction and positron annihilation lifetime spectroscopy approach. The study correlates texture evolution, dislocation substructure development, and vacancy‐type defect formation across uniform, necked, and fracture regions, providing

Investigation of strain rate sensitivity of polymer matrix composites
Includes bibliographical references (leaves 210-219)An investigation into high strain rate behaviour of polymer composites was performed by developing a finite element model for a fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) plates impacted at varying strain rates ...

A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Full Field Strain Analysis of Aircraft Sandwich Structures
A study of the application of two full field optical strain analysis techniques to aircraft standard carbon fibrecomposites is carried out. The goal of the work is to assess the feasibility of using the techniques on full scaletests of secondary sandwich

Modeling strain localization bands in metal foams
International audienceExperimental evidence has documented that during compression of metal foams, deformation is governed by the development of horizontal strain localization bands.

Thermomechanical fatigue tests of laser beam powder bed fusion (PBF‐LB) Inconel 718 show that the additively manufactured material reaches almost the lifetimes of conventionally‐rolled material under no‐dwell conditions. Introducing dwell times at the maximum temperature markedly reduces the lifetimes due to pronounced grain boundary sliding associated

Disordered (Fe50Co50)1−xPtx thin films exhibit a pronounced anomalous Nernst effect (ANE) with a strong composition dependence on both rigid and flexible substrates. The transverse thermoelectric response peaks near 22.5 at.% Pt, accompanied by enhanced αxy/σxy scaling, thermal transport, and ANE sensitivity.

Strain localization in amorphous films deposited on rough substrates
In this study, calculations are carried out for the plastic deformation of amorphous metallic glass films resting on rough substrates. It is found that plastic strain localization in the amorphous film is controlled by the synergistic interplay between ...
