A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Experimental determination of the multi-axial strain transfer from CFRP-laminates to embedded Bragg sensor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
When embedded, optical fibre Bragg gratings are considered to be very valuable in terms of strain measurements of large composite structures for a number of reasons (safety rules, design criteria…).

Inner-ear abnormalities and their functional consequences in Belgian Waterslager canaries (Serinus canarius) [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
Recent reports of elevated auditory thresholds in canaries of the Belgian Waterslager strain have shown that this strain has an inherited auditory deficit in which absolute auditory thresholds at high frequencies (i.e. above 2.0 kHz) are as much as 40 dB

Adaptaquin is selectively toxic to glioma stem cells through disruption of iron and cholesterol metabolism

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptaquin selectively kills glioma stem cells while sparing differentiated brain cells. Transcriptomic and proteomic analyses show Adaptaquin disrupts iron and cholesterol homeostasis, with iron chelation amplifying cytotoxicity via cholesterol depletion, mitochondrial dysfunction, and elevated reactive oxygen species.

Correlations Between XRD Peak Broadening and Elastic and Plastic Deformation for Mild Steel Sheets Under Tensile Loading

open access: yesMedžiagotyra
The polycrystalline nature of steel sheets plays a fundamental role in their plastic behavior during forming, especially under complex stresses, such as the deep drawing process.

High-Speed FBG-Based Fiber Sensor Networks for Semidistributed Strain Measurements

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2013
Conventional fiber-Bragg-grating (FBG)-based sensor networks based on either wavelength- or time-division-multiplexing (WDM or TDM) schemes may suffer from low interrogation speed with moving mechanical parts or inevitable crosstalk between nodes with ...

Optical strain measurement system development [PDF]

open access: yes
A laser speckle, differential strain measurement system has been built and tested for future applications in hostile environments. One-dimensional electronic correlation of speckle pattern movement allows a quasi-real time measure of strain.

The Principle of Strain Reconstruction Tomography: Determination of Quench Strain Distribution from Diffraction Measurements

open access: yes, 2005
Evaluation of residual elastic strain within the bulk of engineering components or natural objects is a challenging task, since in general it requires mapping a six-component tensor quantity in three dimensions.

Self-calibration single-lens 3D video extensometer for high-accuracy and real-time strain measurement.

open access: yesOptics Express, 2016
The accuracy of strain measurement using a common optical extensometer with two-dimensional (2D) digital image correlation (DIC) is not sufficient for experimental applications due to the effect of out-of-plane motion. Although three-dimensional (3D) DIC

Patient‐specific pharmacogenomics demonstrates xCT as predictive therapeutic target in colon cancer with possible implications in tumor connectivity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study integrates transcriptomic profiling of matched tumor and healthy tissues from 32 colorectal cancer patients with functional validation in patient‐derived organoids, revealing dysregulated metabolic programs driven by overexpressed xCT (SLC7A11) and SLC3A2, identifying an oncogenic cystine/glutamate transporter signature linked to ...
