Addressed FBG-structures for tire strain measurement
Optical Technologies for Telecommunications, 2019The work presents a concept of microwave-photonic sensor system (MWPSS) for real-time measurement of vehicle tire strain. The proposed MWPSS is based on the addressed fiber Bragg structures (AFBS) with two symmetrical π-phase shifts (2π-FBG).

Reusable Passive Wireless RFID Sensor for Strain Measurement on Metals
IEEE Sensors Journal, 2018A reusable passive radio frequency identification (RFID) sensor is reported for wireless strain measurement on metals. The characteristics of the proposed sensor are assessed on aluminum tensile specimens.

Camera array-based digital image correlation for high-resolution strain measurement.
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2018Digital image correlation (DIC) is a well-known technique for non-contact, non-destructive, full-field deformation measurement in experimental solid mechanics.

Do we measure strain when we measure strain?
Strain, 1972Errors can occur in the measurements from a strain gauge installation unless certain precautions are taken. Practical solutions are given to minimise the influence of temperature, moisture etc., to ensure an acceptable zero stability.

Optoelectronic strain measurement for flywheels
Experimental Mechanics, 2002Conceptual improvements to a non-contact optical strain measurement technique for high-speed flywheels are presented. The improvements include a novel reflective pattern that allows for greater displacement sensitivity, the ability to measure rigid body vibrations and separate the associated vibration-induced displacement from the strain-induced ...

High-Sensitivity Temperature and Strain Measurement in Dual-Core Hybrid Tapers
IEEE Photonics Technology Letters, 2018We demonstrate an approach for high-sensitivity temperature and strain measurement in a dual-core As2Se3-PMMA taper with an As2Se3 core diameter of $2.5~\mu \text{m}$ .

Using strain gages to measure both strain and temperature
Experimental Mechanics, 1992A transducer is proposed that measures both temperature and strain by using two different strain gages. The theoretical basis for designing such a transducer is developed. Experimental results indicate that the temperature signal can be measured satisfactorily.
