Host Cell Receptor and Herpes Simplex Virus 1 Glycoprotein B Are Determinants of Low Temperature Entry [PDF]

open access: yesViruses
Herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) entry is a complex interplay of viral and host factors. The mechanisms of its regulation remain undefined. HSV-1 entry occurs via multiple distinct and cell-type dependent pathways, further complicating study of this ...

Stress–strain responses for continuous orthogonal strain path changes with increasing sharpness

open access: yesScripta Materialia, 2007
In this article a series of non-proportional orthogonal tests with continuous strain paths are presented. Mild steel was investigated on a biaxial test device that was specifically developed to examine strain path sensitivity. It is shown that a gradual strain path change shows a gradual increase in stress.

Numerical-experimental study on the thickness distribution of metallic bipolar plates for PEM fuel cells [PDF]

open access: yesHydrogen, Fuel Cell & Energy Storage, 2022
In this study, the plastic deformation of a metallic bipolar plate with a serpentine flow field was investigated during the stamping process. The strain path and thickness distribution in 304 stainless steel bipolar plates with a thickness of 0.1 mm were

Effect of Shear Direction on Work-Hardening Evolution of AISI 409 Steel Under Rolling/Shearing Loading [PDF]

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2022
The mechanical behavior of metallic materials depends on several variables, such as the material structural characteristics, the process parameters, the temperature, the strain rate and the anisotropy features due to strain paths in different metal ...

Effects of Unloading on Subsequent Yielding Behavior in 304 Stainless Steel

open access: yesFrontiers in Materials, 2021
Forming operations are known to be complex, involving many strain states, strain rates, temperatures, strain paths, and friction conditions. Material properties, such as strength and ductility, are large drivers in determining if a material can be formed

Strain Path Dependence of Flow Curves [PDF]

open access: yesCIRP Annals, 1991
This paper deals with the changes in flow behaviour, resulting from abrupt changes in the strain path. The transitions tension-to-compression, tension-to-torsion and tension-to-tension were investigated, using the plastic strain at the transition as a parameter. Three materials were selected for the experiments: CuZn37 brass, C22 steel and Armco steel.

Understanding the Strain Path Effect on the Deformed Microstructure of Single Crystal Pure Aluminum

open access: yesMetals, 2021
During plastic deformation, the change of structural states is known to be complicated and indeterminate, even in single crystals. This contributes to some enduring problems like the prediction of deformed texture and the commercial applications of such ...

Prediction of Strain Path Changing Effect on Forming Limits of AA 6111-T4 Based on a Shear Ductile Fracture Criterion

open access: yesMetals, 2021
Strain path changing is a phenomenon in the stamping of complex panels or multiple-step stamping processes. In this study, the influence of the strain path changing effect was investigated and assessed for an aluminum alloy of 6111-T4 with a shear ...

Strained Tetragonal States and Bain Paths in Metals [PDF]

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 1997
Paths of tetragonal states between two phases of a material, such as bcc and fcc, are called Bain paths. Two simple Bain paths can be defined in terms of special imposed stresses, one of which applies directly to strained epitaxial films. Each path goes far into the range of nonlinear elasticity and reaches a range of structural parameters in which the

Dynamic recrystallization, twinning behaviors and mechanical response of pre-twinned AZ31 Mg alloy sheet along various strain paths at warm temperature

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology, 2022
In this study, AZ31 Mg alloy sheet was pre-twinned at room temperature along the transverse direction (TD) to introduce {10–12} tensile twins. The uniaxial tensile experiment was conducted at 200 °C to investigate the dynamic recrystallization, twinning ...
