Cyclic azapeptide CD36 ligand attenuates cardiac injury and reduces long‐chain fatty acid accumulation after myocardial ischemia–reperfusion in mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
In a murine model of myocardial ischemia and reperfusion (MI/R), the CD36 azapeptide ligand MPE‐298 reduces cardiac injury and transiently lowers left ventricular long‐chain fatty acids (LCFAs) accumulation 3 h after reperfusion, accompanied by a decrease of oxidative stress and inflammation‐associated genes' expression in the heart and adipose tissue.

Re‐Awakening Public Attention to the Silent Pandemic of Cancer Among Older Adults in Low‐ and Middle‐Income Countries

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As global populations age, cancer is increasingly becoming a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among older adults, particularly in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Despite accounting for the majority of new cancer cases and deaths, older individuals remain underrepresented in cancer research, clinical guidelines, and health ...

Sensitivity Analysis of an Edge-Fed Microstrip Patch Antenna Strain Sensor to Detect Surface Strains

open access: yesEngineering Proceedings
Damage detection through strain sensing is inevitable in structural health monitoring (SHM) for implementing preventive measures against the failure of a mechanical component or a civil structure.

Development of a fiber optic high temperature strain sensor [PDF]

open access: yes
From 1 Apr. 1991 to 31 Aug. 1992, the Georgia Tech Research Institute conducted a research program to develop a high temperature fiber optic strain sensor as part of a measurement program for the space shuttle booster rocket motor.

Meningovascular Inflammation in Cerebral Amyloid Angiopathy‐Related Cortical Superficial Siderosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The role of inflammation in cortical superficial siderosis (cSS), a marker of cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) linked to high hemorrhage risk, is unclear. We examined 15 patients with cSS using 3 T post‐contrast vessel wall MRI (VWI) and CSF analysis.

Sub-metre spatial resolution temperature compensated distributed strain sensor

open access: yes
We propose and demonstrate a scheme which utilizes the temperature dependence of spontaneous Raman scattering to provide temperature compensation for a sub-metre spatial resolution Brillouin frequency based strain sensor.

Modeling of a Surface Acoustic Wave Strain Sensor [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
NASA Langley Research Center is investigating Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) sensor technology for harsh environments aimed at aerospace applications. To aid in development of sensors a model of a SAW strain sensor has been developed.

Quantum strain sensor with a topological insulator HgTe quantum dot

open access: yes, 2014
We present a theory of electronic properties of HgTe quantum dot and propose a strain sensor based on a strain-driven transition from a HgTe quantum dot with inverted bandstructure and robust topologically protected quantum edge states to a normal state ...

Vestibular Patient Journey: Insights From Vestibular Disorders Association (VeDA) Registry

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Vestibular symptoms impose a high burden of disability. Understanding real‐world diagnostic and treatment pathways can identify care gaps and guide interventions. We aimed to characterize symptom profiles, diagnostic trends, provider involvement, and treatment patterns in vestibular disorders.
