Graphene–polymer coating for the realization of strain sensors [PDF]
In this work we present a novel route to produce a graphene-based film on a polymer substrate. A transparent graphite colloidal suspension was applied to a slat of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA). The good adhesion to the PMMA surface, combined with the shear stress, allows a uniform and continuous spreading of the graphite nanocrystals, resulting in ...

Mathematical modelling of plasmonic strain sensors [PDF]
Abstract We provide a mathematical analysis for a metasurface constructed of plasmonic nanoparticles mounted periodically on the surface of a microcapsule. We derive an effective transmission condition, which exhibits resonances depending on the inter-particle distance. When the microcapsule is deformed, the resonances are shifted.

High-Temperature SAW Wireless Strain Sensor with Langasite
Two Surface acoustic wave (SAW) resonators were fabricated on langasite substrates with Euler angle of (0°, 138.5°, 117°) and (0°, 138.5°, 27°). A dipole antenna was bonded to the prepared SAW resonator to form a wireless sensor.

AbstractStrain sensors have been fabricated by depositing platinum nanoparticles between interdigitated gold electrodes on oxidised silicon substrate. A significant improvement in strain sensitivity is achieved with a gauge factor in excess of 700, which is two orders of magnitude higher than continuous metallic films and five times higher than ...
