Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

First confirmed record of a fin whale (Balaenoptera physalus) in the north coast of Cuba

open access: yesRevista de Investigaciones Marinas, 2022
The finding of a fin whale (Balaenoptera physalus) on the coast of Cayo Francés, Sabana- Camagüey archipelago, is presented. This stranding is the first record for the species in the northern coast of Cuba, and the second documented in the country.

Proceedings of a Workshop on Antarctic Meteorite Stranding Surfaces [PDF]

open access: yes
The discovery of large numbers of meteorites on the Antarctic Ice Sheet is one of the most exciting developments in polar science in recent years. The meteorites are found on areas of ice called stranding surfaces.

Evidence that fin whales respond to the geomagnetic field during migration [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
We challenge the hypothesis that fin whales use a magnetic sense to guide migration by testing for associations between geophysical parameters and the positions where fin whales were observed over the continental shelf off the northeastern United States.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Collisional Evolution of Irregular Satellite Swarms: Detectable Dust around Solar System and Extrasolar Planets

open access: yes, 2010
Since the 1980's it has been becoming increasingly clear that the Solar System's irregular satellites are collisionally evolved. We derive a general model for the collisional evolution of an irregular satellite swarm and apply it to the Solar System and ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Stranded Assets: A Climate Risk Challenge, Executive Summary [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Over the last few years, the topic of "stranded assets" resulting from environment-related risk factors has loomed larger. These factors include the effects of physical climate change as well as societal and regulatory responses to climate change ...

Down‐regulation of Shh in the hair follicles of mice during chemotherapy‐induced hair loss is mediated by the JAK/STAT1 signaling pathway

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We found that during chemotherapy‐induced alopecia (CIA), Sonic hedgehog (Shh) expression significantly decreased in hair follicle Shh+ cells, whereas the Janus‐activated kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (JAK/STAT1) signaling pathway was markedly activated.
