Journal of Physics G: Nuclear and Particle Physics, 1999
The physics of strange quark matter (SQM) searches is reviewed. Theoretical considerations about the creation and stability of SQM are summarized. Experimental techniques looking for the existence of SQM covering the observation of cosmological signals and cosmic radiation are discussed and examples of investigating rock samples and other terrestrial ...

Strangeness in Quark Matter (SQM2009)
Journal of Physics G: Nuclear and Particle Physics, 2010The 14th International Conference on Strangeness in Quark Matter (SQM2009) was held in Brazil from 27 September to 2 October 2009 at Hotel Atlântico, Buzios, Rio de Janeiro. The conference was jointly organized by Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Centro Brasileiro de Pesquisas Fisicas, Universidade de Sao Paulo,

Strange Quark Matter as Dark Matter
Nonlinear Phenomena in Complex Systems, 2019New forms of matter such as super-hypernuclei (strange quark matter) and superhypernuclear stars (strange quark stars) as candidates for dark matter are discussed in some detail, based on the so-called "Bodmer–Terazawa–Witten hypothesis" assuming that they are stable absolutely or quasi-stable (decaying only weakly).

Strange quark matter and models of strange stars
Astrophysics, 1994In the framework of the MIT bag model we consider absolutely stable strange quark matter consisting of u, d, and s quarks and electrons. For a realistic range of parameters of the quark bag we compute the threshold density for the appearance of strange quark matter that is realized on the surface of self-sustaining strange stars. On the basis of twelve

Search for strange quark matter
Nuclear Physics A, 2000Abstract We present results of a search for charged and neutral strangelets produced on collisions of 11.6 A GeV/c Au beams with Pt or Pb targets. Yields of light nuclei and hypernuclei produced by coalescence were measured. Penalty factors were measured for the addition to a fragment of a nucleon or strange hadron. These are useful in planning

Phenomenology of strange quark matter
Progress in Particle and Nuclear Physics, 1988Abstract I review the arguments for the stability of strange quark matter. I discuss the origin of this hypothetical species of matter and its main properties. Finally I examine possible ways of detecting this kind of material, particularly searches using mass spectrometry techniques and ion activation experiments.

Equation of state of strange quark matter and strange star
Physical Review D, 1991Using a relativistic version of the Landau theory of a Fermi liquid and a density-dependent quark-mass approach to confinement, the equation of state of strange quark matter has been derived. This equation of state is used to study the stability and some global properties of a strange quark star.
