Implementing an Indigenous Research Methodology to Develop a Culturally Appropriate Survey and Yarning Protocol: Challenges With Retention of the Aboriginal Health, Ageing and Disability Workforce

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aboriginal staff play a vital part in improving culturally safe and effective services and supports for Aboriginal people. Research on the Aboriginal workforce helps advance a culturally safe environment for workers and Aboriginal people accessing health and community services. This study aims to identify the barriers and enablers to workforce

Strange and non-strange (anti-)baryon production at 200 GeV per nucleon

open access: yes, 1996
Rapidity distributions of net hyperons (\Lambda - \overline{\Lambda}) are compared to distributions of participant protons (p - \overline{p}). Strangeness production (mean multiplicities of produced \Lambda/\Sigma^0 hyperons and \langle K + \overline{K} \

Adults With Intellectual Disability Moving out of the Family Home Using the National Disability Insurance Scheme: Family Members' Planning Experiences

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT For adults with intellectual disability and their families, future planning and moving out of the family home in Australia will increasingly occur within the context of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). As a market‐based, individualised funding system its impact on this transition remains largely unknown. This paper reports on a

Strangeness Enhancement and Canonical Suppression

open access: yes, 2001
We demonstrate the essential role of canonical suppression in strangeness enhancement. The pattern of enhancement of strange and multistrange baryons observed by the WA97 collaboration can be understood on this basis.

Towards a pedagogy of strangeness: exploring the potential of strangeness for foreign language education [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Engagement in depth with a foreign language is a challenging experience. Within the experience, and at a crucial interface – where familiar perspectives are questioned, deconstructed and re-considered – lies an area that I term ‘strangeness’.

Complete strangeness measurements in heavy-ion collisions

open access: yes, 2016
We discuss strangeness production in heavy-ion collisions within and around the energy range of the planned NICA facility. We describe a minimal statistical model, in which the total strangeness yield is fixed by the observed or calculated $ K ...

The Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Workforce in Early Childhood Education: Findings From a National Survey of Australian Centre‐Based Services

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Culturally responsive early childhood education (ECE) environments can increase child and family participation, enhance service quality, and improve developmental outcomes for children. Educators from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds contribute to inclusive ECE and are crucial for addressing workforce shortages.

Strangeness-Exchange and Strange Nuclei

open access: yes, 1979
In these lectures, the nuclear strangeness exchange reaction (K¯, π¯) is discussed. Possible reaction mechanisms are reviewed in Section 2, while the spectroscopic Ʌ-hypernuclear information derived from observation of strangeness exchange is discussed in Section 3. The more general question of multiply-strange nuclei is introduced in Section 1.

Family Dispute Resolution in Australia: The Under‐Servicing of Indigenous, Migrant and Refugee Families Experiencing Family Violence

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Improving access to legal services for Indigenous, migrant and refugee women is critical to addressing family violence. In this context, Family Dispute Resolution (FDR) has long been discussed as a solution for separating families. This paper presents key findings of a research evaluation of an Australian Government $8.37 million pilot project
