Infant Strangulation

All the tragedies described in this paper were avoidable and all involved healthy children. The ages ranged from 17 days to 2 years, but the majority were 2 to 9 months. In this age range children become increasingly agile but may lack the ability to extricate themselves from potentially dangerous situations.

Strangulation of the Scrotum

A man presented to our department showed scrotal swelling and beginning priapism due to a ball bearing ring. The patient had passed his scrotum through the metal ring eight years before. Now he has observed an increasing swelling for seven days. The condition had to be treated operatively.
