A Pincherle‐Type Convergence Theorem for Generalized Continued Fractions in Banach Algebras

open access: yesJournal of Applied Mathematics, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
This contribution is dedicated to the interdependence of higher order linear difference equations and generalized continued fractions in Banach algebras. It turns out that the computation of certain subdominant solutions of a higher order linear difference equation can be done more efficiently by considering its adjoint equation.

Strong Scaling of Matrix Multiplication Algorithms and Memory-Independent Communication Lower Bounds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
A parallel algorithm has perfect strong scaling if its running time on P processors is linear in 1/P, including all communication costs. Distributed-memory parallel algorithms for matrix multiplication with perfect strong scaling have only recently been ...

Utilizing Experimental Data in a Model‐Free Data‐Driven Method: The Case of Thermal Conduction

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 126, Issue 22, 30 November 2025.
ABSTRACT The study at hand investigates the applicability of experimental data within a model‐free data‐driven solver. The heat conduction equation is facilitated and solved by the data‐driven solver without the need for a constitutive law. At first, the results of an artificially created dataset are compared to a finite element solution to assess the ...

Validity of a wireless instrumented insole (WalkinSense system) for measuring gait metrics

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Orthopaedics, Volume 12, Issue 4, October 2025.
This study assessed the validity of the WalkinSense system (WSS) as a portable alternative to instrumented force plates for measuring spatiotemporal and kinematic gait variables. Data from 101 participants across different speeds and slopes showed accurate agreement for most spatiotemporal variables. Kinematic and running data need refinement.

New algorithms and lower bounds for circuits with linear threshold gates

open access: yes, 2014
Let $ACC \circ THR$ be the class of constant-depth circuits comprised of AND, OR, and MOD$m$ gates (for some constant $m > 1$), with a bottom layer of gates computing arbitrary linear threshold functions. This class of circuits can be seen as a "midpoint"

Established and Emerging Roles of Epigenetic Regulation in Diabetic Cardiomyopathy

open access: yesDiabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews, Volume 41, Issue 6, September 2025.
ABSTRACT An increasing number of individuals are at high risk of type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and its cardiovascular (CV) complications, which challenges healthcare systems with an increased risk of developing CV diseases. Patients with T2DM exhibit a unique cardiac phenotype termed diabetic cardiomyopathy (DCM).

Interpretable Machine Learning for Cross‐Cohort Prediction of Motor Fluctuations in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesMovement Disorders, Volume 40, Issue 8, Page 1604-1617, August 2025.
Abstract Background Motor fluctuations are a common complication in later stages of Parkinson's disease (PD) and significantly affect patients' quality of life. Robustly identifying risk and protective factors for this complication across distinct cohorts could lead to improved disease management.

Discreteness of asymptotic tensor ranks

open access: yesDiscrete Analysis
Discreteness of asymptotic tensor ranks, Discrete Analysis 2025:15, 51 pp. This paper concerns tensors of order 3, that is, a generalization of matrices to three dimensions, where one considers three-dimensional arrays of elements of a field $\mathbb F$

Vocal biomarkers correlate with FEV1 variations during methacholine challenge

open access: yesClinical and Translational Allergy, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract Background Mobile health applications are increasingly valued for their role in asthma management and the opportunity for large dataset collection. Our study aimed to investigate the feasibility of applying signal‐processing and machine‐learning technologies to detect alterations in the lower airway caliber and develop a machine‐learning ...

The effect of automated insulin delivery system use on diabetes distress in people with type 1 diabetes and their caregivers: A systematic review and meta‐analysis

open access: yesDiabetic Medicine, Volume 42, Issue 4, April 2025.
Abstract Aims Diabetes distress (DD) is prevalent among people with diabetes. While automated insulin delivery systems (AIDs) improve glycaemic control, their impact on DD is unclear. We aimed to investigate the effect of AIDs on DD in people with diabetes and their caregivers.
