Harnessing iEcology data to uncover invasive species behaviour

open access: yesMethods in Ecology and Evolution, EarlyView.
Abstract Invasive animal species threaten ecosystems, biodiversity and human livelihoods. Behavioural traits such as boldness, exploratory tendencies, learning ability and social interactions are known to influence invasion success. Yet these behavioural traits remain underexplored due to challenges in observing behaviour across large spatial and ...

Sanitation felling against the European spruce bark beetle: A matter of intensity and forest type Tagli fitosanitari contro il bostrico tipografo: una questione di intensità e tipologia forestale

open access: yesAgricultural and Forest Entomology, EarlyView.
We assess the effect of sanitation felling performed in 2022 in North‐Eastern Italy on bark beetle damage that occurred in 2023 across eight spruce forest types, as evaluated using multispectral satellite imagery. Bark beetle damage was reduced only at very high or very low sanitation felling rates.

Plant conservation in a changing Mediterranean world

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, Volume 8, Issue 1, Page 49-72, January 2026.

We provide a framework to link the ecology of plant species conservation in the context of rapid and extreme climate deregulation to a philosophical typology of temporal attitudes (i.e ...

Testing the Impact of Prey Presentation Method on the Feeding Kinematics of Terrestrial and Aquatic Ambystomatidae

open access: yesJournal of Experimental Zoology Part A: Ecological and Integrative Physiology, Volume 343, Issue 10, Page 1150-1163, December 2025.
ABSTRACT In animal behavior, standardizing experimental protocols ensures a rigorous interpretation of the results. However, when working with multisource data, homogeneous standardization is often difficult to attain. This is the case for many studies on feeding kinematics where experimental protocols are carried out using similar but not identical ...

Older Parent–Child Relations in Remote Areas: New Insights on Intergenerational Ties and Support Networks in Italy

open access: yesPopulation, Space and Place, Volume 31, Issue 8, November 2025.
ABSTRACT Italy has stronger intergenerational support networks and more frequent exchanges than other European countries, with little variation over time.
