Rational Formulation of Ether‐Lactone Electrolytes for Safe and Sustainable Ni‐Rich Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
This study reports the formulation of innovative electrolytes to improve safety, sustainability, and compatibility with Ni‐rich cathodes through the use of a bio‐based solvent (γ‐valerolactone, GVL) and a safe, stable, innovative co‐solvent (diethylene glycol butyl ethyl ether, DEGBEE).

Embedding Chemistry and Pharmacy Into Sustainability

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
Chemistry and pharmacy provide products and processes that are indispensable for our high living standard. To understand their relationship with sustainability is important to allow them to contribute to sustainability in a sustainable manner. An integrated overview of green, circular, and sustainable chemistry and pharmacy is given and how they have t

Dual‐Channel Interdigitated Aptamer‐Based Sensors for Rapid Small‐Molecule Detection in Biofluids

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
An electrochemical aptamer sensing chip employs dual interdigitated electrodes and selective self‐assembled monolayer removal to convert small‐molecule recognition into robust “signal‐off/on” responses. This dual‐channel signal conversion minimizes background noise and accelerates probe diffusion, enabling rapid (as fast as 5–30 min), low‐volume ...

Overcrowded Alkene Photo‐Redox‐Switches Based on Quinolinium/Carbene Building Blocks

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, EarlyView.
A modular synthesis of a new class of photo‐ and redox‐switches is described based on the combination of quinolinium salts and carbenes. Photochemical switching allows to selectively switch between folded E/Z isomers, while electrochemical switching allows to change between neutral, radical cation and dicationic oxidation states, which are all isolable
