Shelf edge progradation: An example from Early Cretaceous to Recent based on a seismic sequence stratigraphic framework in the Bengal Basin

open access: yesJournal of Natural Gas Geoscience
This study reconstructs the stratigraphic and tectonostratigraphic frameworks of the Bengal Basin by integrating outcrop geological observations, 2D seismic profiles, well logs, core samples, sedimentological, geochemical, and radiometric dating data ...

Exponentially‐constrained Gaussian mixture model for quantifying vertical development of water‐conducting fracture zones in lithologically stratified mining roofs

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
This study proposes an exponentially‐constrained Gaussian mixture model (EcGMM) to quantify vertical fracture heterogeneity in stratified roof strata. The model integrates a piecewise exponential decay term capturing global stress dissipation with Gaussian components representing localized fracture intensification at lithological interfaces.

World's fastest 10 000‐m breakthrough: The XY‐22 well redefines deep‐earth access in the Tarim Basin

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The Tarim Basin in northwestern China hosts one of the world's deepest petroleum systems, exemplified by the XY‐22 ultra‐deep well (bottom depth: 11 116 m; ~220°C, ~145 MPa). This study integrates tectonic mapping, geological cross‐sections, ultraviolet fluorescence microscopy, and optical photothermal infrared (OPTIR) spectroscopy to characterize ...

Study on stratigraphic dip window in accumulation period based on the principle of minimum energy dissipation rate of oil and gas migration: A case study of the Upper Paleozoic tight gas reservoirs in the Ordos Basin, China

open access: yesJournal of Natural Gas Geoscience
Scholars have primarily focused on statistical analysis of exploration practices and simple physical simulation experiments when investigating the relationship between stratigraphic dip and hydrocarbon resources during the hydrocarbon accumulation period.

Research on Optimal Width of Coal Pillars in Both Sides of Abandoned Mining Areas and Tunnel Control Technology

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study primarily investigates the optimal width for coal pillar retention in both sides of the worked‐out face section. Taking the 42201 haulage roadway of the 42201 working face at Shengxin Coal Mine as the primary research target, it analyses the optimum width for coal pillar retention through theoretical calculations, numerical simulations, and ...

Identification of the mode of evolution in incomplete carbonate successions

open access: yesBMC Ecology and Evolution
Background The fossil record provides the unique opportunity to observe evolution over millions of years, but is known to be incomplete. While incompleteness varies spatially and is hard to estimate for empirical sections, computer simulations of ...

STRATIGRAFIA E PALEOGEOGRAFIA ANISICHE DELLE ALPI GIULIE OCCIDENTALI (ALPI MERIDIONALI - ITALIA)

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2020
Stratigraphic and sedimentologic studies of the Anisian sediments outcropping in North West Friuli allowed the reinterpretation of the stratigraphic sequence and the reconstruction of the paleogeographic and structural evolution of this area.

Mechanisms of Roadway Instability and Coupled Control Technology for Working Face Passing Through Fault Zones

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study mainly explores the instability characteristics of roadways near faults in the working face. Taking the 51104 transportation roadway of the 51104 working face in Shengxin Coal Mine as the main research object, through theoretical analysis, borehole inspection, numerical simulation and on‐site mine pressure observation, the instability ...

Control Mechanism of Pore Structure of Different Macroscopic Lithotypes on Gas Desorption Differences: A Case Study of High‐Rank Coal From the Western Ordos Basin

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study reveals the differentiated gas‐controlling mechanisms of different macroscopic coal lithotypes: semibright coal acts as the primary “gas storage core,” bright coal serves as the critical “seepage channel,” and dull coal functions
