EVOLUTION OF THE PSEUDOSTAFFELLIDAE IN THE BASHKIRIAN(MIDDLE CARBONIFEROUS)

open access: yesRivista Italiana di Paleontologia e Stratigrafia, 2003
The origin and evolution of the family Pseudostaffellidae is discussed, based on the study of foraminifers from the stratotype and reference sections of the Bashkirian stage of the Southern Urals.

Search for impact ejecta at the Paleocene–Eocene boundary

open access: yesMeteoritics &Planetary Science, Volume 61, Issue 7, Page 1585-1592, July 2026.
Abstract Almost 10 years have passed since microtektites and microkrystites were reported for the Paleocene–Eocene (P–E) boundary in drill cores and outcrop in New Jersey and in ODP Hole 1051B in the western North Atlantic. The glassy spherules were interpreted to reflect an impact trigger for the Paleocene–Eocene Thermal Maximum (PETM).

Quantification of the Eocene–Oligocene transition in the Zagros Foreland Basin: Palaeogeographic control on sequence architecture and tectonic signal preservation

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 12, Issue 3, June 2026.
New bio‐sequence framework for the Eocene–Oligocene transition in Zagros. Geochemical data validate basin depth control on SB1 vs. SB2 boundaries. SEM‐EDS analyses confirm subaerial exposure versus continuous deposition. Sensitivity analysis quantifies sub‐10% uncertainty in stratigraphic interpretations. Resolves the Pyrenean orogeny's variable impact

Stratotypical sections of the Upper Ordovician Khoreyver basin (Timan-Pechora region) [PDF]

open access: yesНефтегазовая геология: Теория и практика
Descriptions of stratotypic and hypostratotypic sections of the Upper Ordovician of the Khoreyver Basin are given. The stratotypes of the Malomakarikha, Bagan and Muker Formations were established in the section of the Zapadno-Makariha (Srednemakarikha ...

Loess Studies in Aotearoa New Zealand

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 69, Issue 2, June 2026.
Loess in Aotearoa New Zealand (ANZ) has been studied since its first documented recognition (on Banks Peninsula) in 1878 by Julius von Haast. A decade later, John Hardcastle revealed that southern ANZ loess was both glacial in origin and contained signals of past climates.

Characterisation of the organic matter of upper Bedoulian and lower Gargasian strata in the historical stratotypes (Apt and Cassis-la-Bédoule areas, SE France)

open access: yesCarnets de Géologie, 2008
The Total Organic Carbon (TOC) content of the Gargasian strata studied in their historical stratotype area is rather low (0.3% on average). Only a few levels show TOC values approaching 1.2%. This small amount of preserved organic matter, associated with

New Zealand Geological Timescale 2025

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 69, Issue 1, March 2026.
New Zealand Geological Timescale 2025 (NZGT 2025) is the first comprehensive update and revision of the New Zealand Geological Timescale in a decade. The criteria used to establish age ranges of New Zealand Stages within the NZGT have been reviewed, calibrated, and revised where required against the 2023/04 International Chronostratigraphic Chart and ...

Rangitīkei River Terraces Formed During the Otira Glaciation: Lithostratigraphic Type Sections, Review and Conceptual Model

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Geology and Geophysics, Volume 69, Issue 1, March 2026.
The Rangitīkei Valley in the lower North Island of New Zealand contains flights of river terraces that are influenced by changes in sediment supply, stream power and base level associated with Quaternary climate events over the last ∼350 thousand years.
