Optimizing multi‐trait selection for profitability in Illinois wheat using a factor analytic mixed model and an economic selection index

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 19, Issue 4, December 2026.
Abstract Economic selection indices can improve the efficiency of selection for multiple traits, but they are underutilized in plant breeding due to limited research on the economic values of traits and a lack of well‐documented case examples employing economic indices.

Nanofiber PVA‐Based Membranes Incorporating Functionalized Spanish Broom Derivatives for Sustainable Water Purification

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 6, November 2026.
This study investigates Spanish broom (Spartium junceum) as a renewable source for electrospun composite membranes in sustainable water purification. MCC and biochar were functionalized with eco‐friendly precursors and nanomaterials (i.e., HNT, β‐CDs) to develop hybrid PVA nanofiber composites.

Optimizing feather hydrolysate via machine learning for microbial recycling of waste concrete fines

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Technology &Biotechnology, Volume 101, Issue 11, Page 2310-2326, November 2026.
Abstract BACKGROUND The concrete industry faces significant challenges from CO2 emissions and the disposal of waste concrete fines (WCF). Microbially induced calcite precipitation (MICP) can bind WCF into bioconcrete, but the high cost of commercial culture media hinders its application.

Composting Barn Systems in Dairy Production: A Global and Multidimensional Synthesis of Evidence (2015–2025)

open access: yesEnvironmental Quality Management, Volume 36, Issue 4, November 2026.
ABSTRACT The intensification of dairy farming has driven the adoption of more efficient and sustainable housing systems, among which the Compost Barn system stands out. However, the literature presents heterogeneous results influenced by climatic, structural, and management variations, limiting the establishment of consistent technical recommendations.

The Late Agricultural Development of Central Arabian Oases—Archaeobotanical and Archaeozoological Studies of the al‐Kharj Oasis

open access: yesArabian Archaeology and Epigraphy, Volume 37, Issue 1, Page 317-355, November 2026.
ABSTRACT While oasis settlements emerged during the Bronze Age in Eastern and Northern Arabia, the settlement process in Central Arabia was different. Excavations at al‐Yamāma—main ancient settlement of the al‐Kharj oasis (Riyadh Province, KSA)—suggest that the latter did not emerge before the second half of the first millennium BCE.
