Assessing interdisciplinary understanding: Disciplinary crossroads in the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme

open access: yesThe Curriculum Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Assessing interdisciplinary learning within school curricula remains a persistent challenge in educational research. Difficulties in articulating shared assessment criteria, alongside differing disciplinary and pedagogical perspectives, have contributed to ongoing uncertainty around how interdisciplinary learning should be evaluated.

Optimization of Straw Particle Size for Enhanced Biogas Production: A Comparative Study of Wheat and Rapeseed Straw

open access: yesEnergies
Biogas production from lignocellulosic biomass, such as wheat and rapeseed straw, is an essential strategy for sustainable energy generation. However, the efficiency of anaerobic digestion depends on the physical characteristics of the substrate ...

Monitoring Injected Drug Use in Greece Through Syringe Residue Analysis: A Multicity Study Within the ESCAPE Network

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
A total of 2121 used syringes were analyzed in Athens, Thessaloniki, and Patras between 2022 and 2024. Distinct drug‐use patterns were observed across the three cities. Benzodiazepines, pregabalin, methadone, and fentanyl were increasingly detected in 2024.

Uniaxial compressive strength prediction and ratio parameter optimization of titanium tailings composite backfill materials using intelligent hybrid models

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Based on the 90 datasets, ERT and four optimization algorithms were used to build four hybrid models to predict the UCS of the backfill body. The SMA‐ERT model was the most effective model, and it can reliably guide the design of the backfill ratio parameters. Abstract This study analyzed the feasibility of using titanium (Ti) tailings as a backfilling

Effect of Sequential and Combined Space‐Based Stressors on Perovskite Solar Cell Stability

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
A correlation between loss in performance and mobile ion concentration has been established by sequential stressing of perovskite solar cells under Low Earth Orbit conditions with exposure to protons, light, and thermal cycling. It is shown that the loss in performance increases when ion concentration increases and vice versa.

Effects of Straw Biological Reactor with Maize Straw on the Growth Environment, Yield and Quality of Watermelon in Shed Planting

open access: yesInternational Journal of Ecology, 2017

Nanofiber PVA‐Based Membranes Incorporating Functionalized Spanish Broom Derivatives for Sustainable Water Purification

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This study investigates Spanish broom (Spartium junceum) as a renewable source for electrospun composite membranes in sustainable water purification. MCC and biochar were functionalized with eco‐friendly precursors and nanomaterials (i.e., HNT, β‐CDs) to develop hybrid PVA nanofiber composites.

Bridging Policy Gaps in Transition Times: How Local Actors Navigate Low Policy Coherence for Advancing a Circular Built Environment

open access: yesEnvironmental Policy and Governance, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The construction sector is a major contributor to the climate crisis, accounting for over one‐third of global energy‐related CO2 emissions. In response, the European Commission identified the circular economy as a means of achieving green growth and prioritized the construction sector in its Circular Economy Action Plan.

Production of bioethanol from residual barley and utilization of fermentation co‐products in animal nutrition

open access: yesEnvironmental Progress &Sustainable Energy, EarlyView.
Abstract The search for sustainable alternatives for bioethanol production has encouraged the valorization of agro‐industrial residues. This study evaluated the use of residual barley as a feedstock for bioethanol production and as a potential ingredient for ruminant feed.
