Dermatophytes isolated from asymptomatic stray cats
Mycoses, 1997Summary. Most human cases of dermato‐phytosis diagnosed in Siena, Italy, in the last 5 years have been caused by two zoophilic species: Microsporum canis and Trichophyton mentagrophytes. Since many patients had a history of contact with apparently healthy stray cats, we examined the fur of 173 stray cats for dermatophytes.
